I haven't processed many photos from our vacation but here are some. This was our cabin. Mrs. Cornflake reads on the porch. This was at a lake down the road at daybreak, day before yesterday. A creek in a canyon. My wonderful wife. The excitement and trendiness of downtown Flagstaff.

Thanks, Sekhmet. She was remarkably tolerant when I'd interrupt one of our hikes to set up a tripod and fool with camera settings.

I am thinking that the creek in the canyon photo needs a bit more saturation. Maybe underexpose or burn in the trees and edges .. I'm looking to see more reflection in the water and a darker sky.
Arizona must be so hard to photograph digitally, given the propensity of the medium to burn out in bright light.

Thanks, Gene.

I've decided it's just not a good shot. I've worked up some better shots of that place but none is all that good. A friend of mine has photographed that canyon a lot and we both find it very difficult because of the shadows at the bottom and the brightness at the top. Even with a polarizer and even using HDR, it's hard to get both right.

Yeah, so you need to shoot as close to the magic hours as possible and use a polarizer when the sun's up. But the magic-hours approach doesn't really work in the bottom of a canyon .
