All the computer models except one outlier is aimed straight at us. I need to drag my generator out, make sure it cranks, get gas in the cans, blah blah blah...sigh....
I really want to go to Ijam...not sit in the dark at home and swelter.

When I lived in Houston we used to worry about storms coming in from the Gulf. A few were really bad when I was young. Now that I'm basically 300 miles from the coast a storm that hits Houston just means we might get some showers a few days later. I do hope everyone is safe down there. Hang in and keep yourself out of harm's way.

Don't swelter.
Batten down the hatches and flee to storm-free, never-floods Vinton.
Right?

Just yesterday I was complaining that Fay was too far away to help the drought in SC. Then a couple of storm bands came through. Sure we needed the rain but a couple of those folks needed those roofs to. And I think this storm is in Mississippi.
Gustav is looking strong and Bush is on vacation in Crawford.

We've had rain in this area for the last 4 days, a residual effect of tropical storm Fay.
Computer models show Gustav hitting New Orleans about the same time as the beginning of the Republican Convention in Minneapolis. Could this be a sign?
I could easily imagine the media/press abandoning the convention to go to New Orleans and get shots of Barack and Michelle passing out soup in the ninth ward.

Is there anybody in the ninth ward?

If Gustav hits, let's hope no one hangs around this time. Maybe mayor Nagin will heed the warning to evacuate, even if it's by school bus.

The Louisiana governor is already talking with FEMA...Like that's gonna Help (Oh and this is not the same governor as before)
All in all ,some say it's a big propaganda thing trumped up by McCain's staff....... Who knows?

It just sounds like a drag, Jerry. Having been through the drag out the generator and make sure it cranks crap, I do feel sorry for you. Hopefully you can sit around in the Swale and forget this ever happened in a couple weeks.
