And, you know it's possible to view different sides of a person without endorsing the destructive side. Just to trip your trigger, your favorite conservative (Tony Perkins) visited our church this morning. I had a very nice visit with him and Lawana. Also, my daughter and one of their daughters used to be good friends. The Perkins girls are wonderful young people. Tony is here most of the time now, having moved FRC down the street from us in Baton Rouge.

So Dreher has gone right over the edge and is floating untethered out in the Crazy Zone, where any cultural feature that offends him originates or is promoted by cabals and internal enemies and the woke and the baizuocracy. (Interesting to see a "conservative" commentator borrowing vocabulary from Chinese Communist Party flacks and casting admiring glances in the direction of authoritarian bullies like Orban.) A stroll through the comment thread of the "Putin Gets It" column is illuminating and frightening. So much delusion, so much paranoia. I've tried to divine the crazy in the original post. My powers are failing me.

I know Rod. Bigot? Far from it. How convenient to throw a label on somebody you disagree with. Typical.

This is great. From Dreher's blog. The painting is by Ilya Repin, the great 19th century Russian painter. Its title is, “The Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks.” It is based on a too-good-to-check legend about the Cossack band from the region, who were supposedly sent this ultimatum in 1676 by the Ottoman sultan: Here was their reply: Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan! Well, here’s good news: some cocky Ukrainian soldiers recreated the tableau! With this image, they are hurling the same hilariously vulgar curses at Vladimir Putin — and given how famous that painting is in Russian culture, every Russian and Ukrainian knows it.

Caregivers bear a burden. And they rarely see how heavy it is until the burden is lifted at the end.

I don’t think he’s taking in to account all the “carbon footprints” Putin is going to be eliminating. And that is the end goal of "climate change" hysteria- decreasing the surplus population. Maybe Putin will win some envronmentalist award for cutting to the chase. Also the goal of the 'Rona hysteria and the subsequent "vaccines". Okay, ducking for cover now!

However, meanwhile, sanctions have not reached Russia's golden goose: Energy. Russia has Europe by the 'nads, especially for natural gas.
So, the sanctions are tough? Sure, as far as they go. But Russia is still making bank big time on energy.

I have have some beautifully done LPs of his from the 70s-80s including some Beatles arrangements. Some 6 string work, some 10 (or is it 11) string. They're nicely recorded on DG. I'm guessing you're referring to Deutsche Grammophon. Yup

Aha! The fires of hell await you! Jesus' mother was a lithe teenager and, I was presume, quite fetching. I've no doubt she was. In many ancient and traditional liturgical prayers, Mary is referred to (hailed as) “heifer,” a young cow which has not borne a calf. She is also referred to as the heifer (cow and sometimes ewe) who's calf is to be sacrificed for all of us. On edit: And, yeah, I'm sure the fires of hell await me… but probably not for that post. How interesting! There are parallels to this in Maasai culture. Certain clothing articles and beaded decoration denote the status of the woman: pre-circumcision, circumcised not married, married no child (heifer), married with children, female elder and so on. Much of the decoration has bovine relationship. They are an animal-herding culture. Much like in Mary's day.

What do they say about your Hindu faith down at the Hobo Haus? Heh. Of course, as I'm sure you know, “Holy Cow” is a reference to the mother of Jesus. Aha! The fires of hell await you! Jesus' mother was a lithe teenager and, I was presume, quite fetching.

I've always had trouble with the possessive in front of the quick phrase "Oh My God! It should be 'Oh our God!' "Our" is possessive plural. God is not happy with you today.
