Joel and I met up yesterday for the first time, although we knew in advance we have some serious New England - and general east coast attitude - in common. Turns out there's more. We're both long time professional salespeople and have the same philosophy as related to sales ethics and client treatment. Kindred souls indeed. Joel had the opportunity to chat up my wife a bit and meet my son as well. And Dante made his presence known. And of course there's the guitar thing. We drove to Eric Schoenberg's shop together and had a great hour or so stay there. As we arrived, Eric was in the process of selling a $10K koa guitar and was feeling magmanimous or something. Joel and I pulled anything we felt like playing off the wall without any interference or sideways looks, regardless of price. By the way, for those who haven't been there, Eric's shop is smaller than most people's living rooms, but houses an incredible inventory. My favorites were a 1935 Slothead Martin 5-18, a Ron Phillips Parlor Single Resonator (I may be in trouble here - I really love this one), and a Schoenberg 0C Standard (or maybe it was the 00C Soloist, not sure). They're all way way out of my budget anyway, except for the resonator unfortunately. Joel has quite the good rhythm patterns in his strumming techniques. Thanks for a fun afternoon, Joel. And to Eric too.

Thought about it, even discussed it. Homeland Security may have taken a few - ask them.

I'll try this on the iPod touch. It was a lot of fun. Bob has a wonderful family, and Dante is a really nice pal, so we all hit it off nicely. The traffic heading back to Oakland was not as bad as going to Bob's. Shoenberg's was fun and for the little playing I did my hand did fine. I loved the 00 Shoemberg as well as the 0. Small guitars do rule and Bob will own that little resonator, I predict, they looked and sounded great together. A great time was had.

Forumites meeting forumites. Always a good thing. Except when they are looking at unaffordable guitars.

Meeting 'Soundholeons', good company, and playing guitars.... sounds like a great day to me. Glad you guys crossed paths. I hope to have a parallel experience with both of you someday.

'Soundholeons'?
Or are we "Soundholers"?
Glad y'all agree on sales ethics, but count your picks.

You also have one more thing in common. You two are the only Soundholeans to possess a mason jar of my mother's home made Mayhaw jelly. Co-ink-y-dink?
