Actually 3 years old, but just 32K miles on it with a warranty until 100K miles, plus I paid just 33% of original sticker price. Jags have crappy resale value. It's the stretch version, so my 6'3" son and his friend will have room in the back on our trip to Mexico after Christmas. Most importantly, I have a Jaguar again. Not a pic of mine, but the same car.

My brother buys, sells, works on and trades Jags. He helped his foster son restore one, and the kid would drive it to school. I hoped he could find it in the parking lot after school in Colo, and didn't get it mixed up with all the other Jags in the parking lot.

I hoped he could find it in the parking lot after school in Colo, and didn't get it mixed up with all the other Jags in the parking lot. (rolling laughing head) I went to Starbucks this morning and parked next to another Jag just like it, same color even, except it was 5 inches shorter. The dealership I bought mine from yesterday sells Range & Land Rovers, Jaguars, and Aston Martins (in a separate room, of course).

I've got a bunch of friends who swear by the rule: "buy a used luxury car." The story is; a 2 or 3 year old vehicle costs about 50% the value of new. And it retains a high percentage of that value over the next 2 or 3 years. And they're supposed to be built well enough to last for a long time.
So, the story is you get a great ride for about the cost of buying a cheaper car new. And you've got the comfort and safety and status of driving a fancy car.
I haven't tried that yet. And my 5 year old Corolla is paid for, so you don't get any better value than paid-for. Of course it's just a little 4 banger.
Enjoy.

I haven't bought a new car since 1974 when I got a BMW 2002tii. Have bought 10 or so luxury cars since then, usually 3 or 4 years old. The Jag I got yesterday is paid for as well.

HEY, I had a '73 tii. It was a beast, having the monstrously complex (and damn finnicky) Kugelfisher mechanical fuel injection (a pure racing piece) combined with a high 12:1 compression ratio. For 74 they used the much more dependable Bosch electronic unit for a more tractable machine.
We do the used upscale auto thing as well, but nothing as sexy as the Jag. BUT, it's what Nancy would like next.

Just got back from a short trip to Pacifica to see some monster surf, not the 30' they had earlier, but 15-18' is still pretty impressive. Didn't go the extra few miles to Mavericks (pic below), where they get the really big ones. And the cat performed admirably on the highways and byways, under the tutelage of my practised lead foot. Didn't check the MPG on the trip, never do, never will.

A fine car tequilabob -- glad you're enjoying it.
In your picture of the Mavericks -- is that a surfer or kayaker being tumbled in the middle of the photo?

I believe what you can see in the pic is the surfer's board, probably between 9 and 10 feet long, just to give an idea of the size if wave. Mav's is not a place I ever want to surf.

PS Nice ride T-Bob. The car I mean.
