Who's the most prolific singer songwriter for you?

Mr. Zimmerman here. His voice is suspect, but he does sing.

Second place is tough.
Robert Hunter is a great songwriter but never sang.
Tim Buckley coulda been up there if he'd lived longer.
Jackson Browne's late 70s and early 80s stuff was awesome.
and what about Eric Anderson?

I played "Chelsea Morning" the other day, in fact, and it occurred to me that there is no reason for a guy of the male persuasion to NOT do that song.

Soon as I get a long, staright, blonde wig, that is.


I also have to be OK with bringing my love interest "incense owls by night" and I am not sure I am capable of that.

Or maybe Gheorghe Zamfir. Except he plays panflute and doesn't sing. Kinda like that Zimmerman kid. Only Dylan doesn't rock the panflute.

Or possibly that meerkat in the Lion King. Except I don't think he wrote his own stuff (rumor has it that he ripped off the pig).

Slim and Zamfir were kings of late night TV for a while there.

Sold more records than Elvis (Hjerthcmfgnxfhgrt- Marshall's cousin).

Dylan would have to be at the top my list for me.

You may not like his style but Elvis Costello has been churning our great records for decades. I'm guessing but I'd say at least one a year consitantly since 1977. And in his early days he'd have two dozen songs on an album.

Robert Hunter wrote most of the Grateful Dead's songs.

Tim Buckley was an amazing performer in the late 60s and early 70s - check him out. Drug overdose. His son Jeff wrote some very good stuff as well. He drowned in his 20s. Tim's voice is really second to none. His version of Fred Neil's Dolphins brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Also try Buzzin' Fly and Once I Was... and there's plenty of others.

Eric Anderson hit the music scene in the early 60s, eclipsed by Dylan - google Violets of Dawn. Still performing, mostly in Europe, where he's lived for about 30 years.
