If you're gonna post a picture, would you please size it properly so all of us can read the text in the thread without scrolling back and forth? If my picture isn't sized right, being sort of a computer dunce, I just don't post it.

You do know that this is just an invitation for someone to post a 2000 X 2000 image?

I'll be expecting all kinds of large pics in this thread given the weisenheimer quotient of this group. ;D

if someone could post instructions on how to size a photo that we find on the internet I would love to know it.

It's been done here a few times, Tramp. I've not written them down or saved to the compuker either.

I didn't think the HTML codes worked.

I think that even 800 is wider than the screen without scrolling. I've tried to remember the code for sizing on this forum but never can. I size before I put it on the 'net.

Sounds like youse guys need new monitors.
I never scroll right. I figure if someone really has something worth reading, they'll type it on the left.

Common resolutions on PC's are 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x768 and up. These are for a normal 4/3 aspect ratio--widescreen monitors will have larger horizontal dimensions.
Almost no one is stuck in the old 640x480 pre-VGA world. So images up to 800 wide are probably OK, but those using 800x600 might have to scroll sideways a little.
If the forum's IMG tags don't have a size attribute then re-sizing the original image down to less than 800 wide would be a good idea. Any image editing software will do this. If the image is on the web at some huge size, maybe it's best not to post it.

If you post a photo here then you must have a host site for it like Photobucket or Shutterbug. I use Photobucket and can size my photos before posting them here. There is a HTML code for but I will be damned if I can get it to work.

I am guilty of this. Several times over. Because of my guilt, I've learned (when I remember) one simple rule: When it comes to pictures, preview your post before posting.

If you post a photo here then you must have a host site for it like Photobucket or Shutterbug. I'll second this. If I'm posting a photo, usually it means something I found on the web. As such, its vulnerable in its current location (could be deleted, for example). So the first thing I do is go to Photobucket and make my own copy of the photo. Then I go into the Photobucket editor and set the photo to 500 px wide (at the most). Then I post a link to that version (Photobucket will even pre-generate the link for you, with the 'IMG' tags and everything). Its a couple extra steps, but it ensures that your link is durable and the proper size.

I believe you can resize any picture with Microsoft paint, which comes free in Windows. It's under Accessories in your programs.

Yeah. Exactly how many pixels wide is the universe? 1. Yeah, but that's only on the GOM (God's Own Multiverse) model, which is set up to display an arbitrary number of cosmoi from those available from the infinite manifold when the ICI (inter-continuum interval) unit =1 quantum event. Smaller, finite-state devices need an HTML code to display universes properly without distortion. And you know how the inhabitants hate it when the aspect ratio is altered. "Hey! This monitor makes my solar system--and my ass--look fat!"
