After looking around at wood screen door prices (about $270 each), I decided to build three of them this weekend. I remember someone here built a custom one. I'm going to make mine from redwood since I have quite a bit of kiln dried clear 2X6. Problem is, I don't own a thickness planer or joiner so making a mortise and tenon joint is going to be difficult. I do have a good router so perhaps with the purchase of some bits, I'll be able to pull it off. Perhaps I'll just buy a biscuit tool. Will post pictures of the finished products (or maybe just a bunch of kindling).

Have you ever looked at one of these? Looks like a nifty system. But I've never had a chance to try one out.

A router bit that will cut slots for standard biscuits might be an inexpensive way to go.
Please post pics -- I have a similar project coming up.

I have used a simple Kreg guide and it works great. The one I had bought was less then $20 and came with a guide jig, drill bit and a small box of screws. It works great for facial trim where the slots and screws can be hidden.
