Last day of a three day week for me. Tomorrow we're supposed to have carpet installers for the new room in the basement, but I don't know if they'll want to come down our driveway which is still covered by a thick layer of packed snow and ice in most places.
Several folks at work have had ice dam problems with water cascading down walls in some cases. Checked our roof last night and it's still a uniform layer of at least six inches of snow. Good insulation I guess.

Good morning, all. We're having 70s for the first time in a while and it's pleasant. I have work and then bell choir practice ahead. Enjoy your day.

You might want to go around the house with a long-handled broom and sweep what you can off the eaves, Dick. If your house design allows you to do that.
Sunny today and highs in the thirties. I'm getting the grill set up so Kim can start on some steaks when she gets home tonight. (She gets home first).

It's when you've got the melted patches above the eaves because of a drafty attic or poor insulation that causes the ice damming. A nice even blanket is OK and I don't see any big buildup on the gutters. Plus in the back the gutters are about 18 feet above the ground. My friends who are having the problems live in older houses where either the insulation or the sealing around vent pipes etc. is not sound so there are big patches of bare roof where the snow is melting and damming up behind the ice at the gutters.

G'mornin' - I made an apple pie the other day and in my inattention (I know what I'm doing why should I pay attention) I grabbed for the Cinnamon opened it and started shaking it on to the apples - it wasn't brown - I'd just shaken about a quart teaspoon of onion powder on the apples. Well, having just stabbed myself in the palm while peeling those apples that were now soaking up onion powder I said to myself 'how bad can it be'. Now after eating about a third of the finished pie - it's not too bad - but it's not really a sweet apple pie, but it's lunch and dessert for the next couple days.
So PAY ATTENTION and life will work out more the way you want.

Still no winter here. I went to see David Francey last night. It was a great concert and he was quite a gentleman and a story teller. I really enjoyed the evening. Here's a couple of samples -

Hi folks, have a good afternoon. Yes, winter is officially too long for me as well. However, the Red Sox pitchers and catchers reorted to Spring Training today, so the end of Winter is near!
