Got it! You know, if Chevy Chase was/were still funny, he could make a living on W alone.

Everyone is talking like Minnesota is going to get their paper from a outsourcer in China. I do not think that is going to happen. Yet?

Just heard that Ford and Toyota are meeting. Could it be that Ford employees maybe working for a Japanese company in the future? You are not alone in your future in the work force Bill.

Seems to me they had met earlier and called off talks, but I think that merger would be a good thing for two companies that I really respect. (Then watch Honda and GM merge, and watch the fur fly!)

This part was way funnier when Howard Dean said it.

Saw this in the paper this morning. Quite a surprise. Watch out if the management starts handing out copies of Who Moved My Cheese.
Doug said, "Damn and I was going to offer $531 million just so I could be Bill's boss." Then he was going to mandate longer guitar-playing breaks during the day.

I'm not an unqualified fan of globalization, but I think that could be a good thing. Toyota and Honda managing Ford and GM could save thousands of American jobs. They've gotten better, a bit too late, but those two companies spent decades making bad design, marketing and management decisions and blaming it on their workforce. Time for desperate measures.

Good luck, Bill. Don't worry, the good people always land on their feet.
Hey, maybe Acoustic Guitar needs an editor. You could turn it into the first guitar magazine to do real investigative reporting.
"Did John Kerry play over the soundhole in Vietnam?"
"Does George Bush REALLY know what a G chord is?"

Time for desperate measures. Tim Like cutting retirement and pensions for all. That is Ford's biggest complaint, they said it adds 1,500.00 per vehicle.

Of course not. He only plays in the key of W. And he plays solo. His listening skills are not up to the demands of ensemble playing.

Hang in there, youngster! This may prove to be a whole new adventure that's to the benefit of all.
I've lost count of the times I've had to re-invent myself and move on in similar situations. Cautiously apprehensive at first but usually elated as time passes.

wonder which story made the top of the front page on today's Trib? Death of Ford or sale of paper?

wonder which story made the top of the front page on today's Trib? Death of Ford or sale of paper? Big, four-column all-caps hed at the top of 1A reads GERALD FORD DIES AT AGE 93 with read-out hed type that says "He helped end the nation's long Watergate nightmare. Unelected, he was the nation's longest-living former president. His pardon of Nixon may have cost him election in 1976." There is a very dignified four-col B&W profile hedshot photo of him right under the display type, all above the fold. In the right-hand two columns, a color photo of our publisher meeting with employees and a much smaller hed that reads "Private group will buy Star Tribune." I thought they played everything just right, considering the circumstances.
