Here is a four piece jam band composed of high school kids in my home town. Recorded live in my basement by just sitting an AT4033 condenser in front of them and letting the tape roll. There is light compression but that's it. Sami Steidl the violin/viola player has been in bands with me since she was 13. They all can sight read effortlessly but as you will hear, that's not what lights their fire. they blew me away. A real testament to our high school music program. kennedyguitars.com/_Kennedy_Guitars/Sound_clips_and_Pictures.html

I'm trying to click on the links, but am not getting anything. My mouse cursor remains an arrow instead of becoming a hand, if that means anything. I love to hear young kids playing music, though. I'm guessing my computer will be more cooperative tomorrow.

If they got the passion and enthusiasm for a live performance like that from their High School Band Director, god bless 'em. I wish every band director could inspire students like that.

The music program here has turned out some great players but these kids are the best I've seen. What is cool is their attitude. They don't overplay, they check their egos at the door, they give each other plenty of space, and seem to be well dialed in to playing only the notes that are needed for the sound they want. They are incredibly mature musicians for their young age. They all work with teachers outside the school music program too.

27?! I got ties older than that. Wore one to my neice's wedding on Saturday. (She's older than 27 as well. Fortunately, she looks like a 30-year-old Grace Kelly.)
