Good morning, all. I am working from home for a while -- still hacking and coughing my way through the end of a pesky cold, and I'd rather do it at home than gross out my co-workers. Don, glad to hear you have "River" under your fingers, such a lovely tune it is. I made some fairly significant changes to Mr. Petteway's original. I like to think they are improvements, but they are probably just differences. In any event, Al claims to like by version as much as his own. God only knows why I thought of this blast from the past this morning, but here it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1c4QZGQw5o

Good morning!
Had a great cigar club dinner last night...Anthony's Steakhouse is fabulous. I swear that was a 24 ounce prime rib. Just like butter.
One of the guys brought a guitar, so he and I ended up spending the last hour passing it back and forth, doing songs. That was fun, and it also validated one of my long-standing notions...that being that Beatles and Willie Nelson stuffalways works. And Jim Croce too. I ended up faking my way through "LeRoy Brown" with positive results.
Lunch today with my oldest daughter, then meeting with accountants, then pretending to work.

Oh I agree Bob! I'm a big RT fan, but this album and his last album (Sweet Warrior) are sort of ok. The second cut on the new album sounds like he was listening to a lot of Tom Waits the day he wrote it. Not bad, just takes some getting used to. Then the third song, Haul Me Up sounds like a live track is quite good. I couldn't get through the next couple. But maybe later I'll warm up to them, I just have to get through the whole thing still. For all I know there's a classic gem waiting for me. More "recent" albums that are top notched and I like just about every cut right off the rip are Mock Tudor and The Old Kit Bag Last time I saw RT with a full band show was with the Mock Tudor release--absolutely great show. Mock Tudor is probably my favorite album, but I don't have a lot of the back catalog. I do have a recent box set with lots of live takes and some odd things on it--it's kind of hit or miss. My son and daughter-in-law are going to the show. Hope they'll like it--they are Great Big Sea fans so I think RT will go over well.

I'd be curious to hear his.....send a link if you have one. I like yours.....obviously I learned it from yours. But I have also thrown in a few nuances of mine. With a piece like this, we'll all hear it a bit different.....but the main framework of it I kept as is.

TWINS could clinch tonight. Bring on those Yankees or those Sunny Rays. They sure have had a stellar season. Hope they do the whole deal. (Gotta hope for a late start to Winter though.)
