I check in a few times a day to see if there's any bacon.

So if there were 409 guests and 4 invisible in the last 24 hours, are any of them counted more than once?

So if there were 409 guests and 4 invisible in the last 24 hours, are any of them counted more than once? Probably yes. Guests are counted every time they view the site. Invisible means you are logged in but only the Mods can see who you are and you are counted like any other logged in member. That's right Doug, we can see you, so put some pants on.

I wonder how many people come here, look around in several forums and come to the conclusion that the place has been dead since 2006 and leave before looking at the Cafe?

I remember someone (Cribbs?) saying that a lot of the lurkers are "spiders" from Google, Yahoo, etc., cataloging the site for their search engines. I think.

I've always been invisible. That's so I can sneak up on threads. ;D Kind of like when Niki wears her camo scarf she thinks she's invisible.

I think a lot of lurkers come in here, read all the anarchy-based posts, and RUN AWAY!

Lurky is usually preceded by a hyphen and turkey.

I misread the thread title. I thought you wrote "Lunkers Abound". It's the opening of carp season in Wisconsin and I was ready to gear up for a quick trip.

Some (a lot?) of the lurkers are members that decide not to jump in much. Jerry says he lurks. Kari lurks. I went to band practice a week ago, and started to tell Kari I had been to see Kim Richey the night before. She gave me a stern look and said, "I saw your hand.. . . , crazy guy."

The soundhole is rapidly becoming legendary. I was at a show in Chattanooga last weekend. While waiting in line to get free drinks I happened to overhear two people talking about "...this internet forum where guys who play guitar discuss everything under the sun with such erudition and stuff that I check in there daily". The fellow the first guy was addressing, rather than asking, "What forum is that?" instead replied "...oh, you mean the Soundhole?"
Next thing I knew, a few others standing in line spoke up and mentioned that they too regularly check in here. In fact, three of them said that they now no longer check anywhere else online for news and opinion because "...really, I get all the news I need on the Soundhole".
Nobody disagreed. In fact, most of them just knowingly shook their heads. One of them confessed that he was a researcher for the Daily Show. He said, "Well, duh, where do you think we get our best stuff?
I'm not normally given to staring at such things, but one of the women had a tattoo of Marty on the exposed part of her cleavage.

I was at an art fair! And I never hung around malls enough to learn the language.
