I've played through one of these. You'd need a PA.

Thanks, but I believe this is a PA system, Fender passport pd250.

Seems like you're set, what type of mics are you using? Make sure the quality and type match your vocals for the gig

Depends on the gig, Lonnie. I haven't used the bigger PA in 2 yrs and get buy just fine for the (max audience of 25 gig) with the little PA50 Kustom. If I get this bar gig I'll have to bring the big PA that's 300 watts. I was running about 700 watts till I looked around and found I only needed that much power for one gig in 3 yrs and it had a house PA, so I downsized to the 300 watt system. Haven't had any problems with it with audiences up to 100. I'm not a fan of the PA250, I like the sound and the build quality of the Yamaha StagePass better. I think the sound was better from my 2 powered speakers and mixer at 700 watts but not enough to deal with a big system for little gigs. And the drunks wouldn't know the difference any way.

I was speaking abut the Fender pd250 specifically. A friend of mine had one, I played a gig with him... electric piano, vocal and acoustic guitar. Two Campbell's soup cans and a waxed string would have sounded better. Easily the worst small PA system I've ever experienced. I really like Fender guitars and amps, why they let this abomination out into the world is beyond me. The speakers sounded like they used shag carpet for grill cloth.

I didn't like the sound out of the PD250 either and I'm not too picky (drunks won't know the difference ). I went with the StagePass at about the same power and price, and to my ear (which ain't too good) better sound. My only complaint about the Yamaha StagePass is that it developed a fan noise after a couple of years, but if you turn it off and back on it goes away, kind of like the turn the radio up if your car is making a noise.
