Yankees focused, of course, so it'll piss off a few of you.
The Yankees find themselves in an unusual situation. Six legitamite starters. What to do?
Sabathia Burnett Hughes Colon Garcia Nova
Let CC pitch whenever he wants to, 3 days rest, 4 days, he's done it before, and with success. Do almost the same with Hughes. He's coming off a strange year. Let him acclimate. Fit the other guys in around those two schedules. Colon and Garcia need more rest than the others, especially Colon. He's carrying 50 lbs more than he should. He needs time to digest all those extra burritos. Imagine a motivated Burnett in the 7th and 8th innings. He could throw 97 or 98 along with his unfuckinghittable curve ball. And if he messes up, there's Robertson in the wings. Probably the best overall reliever on the Yankees, and the AL East, outside of Mo. And Rivera is really just a one inning guy. Nova will find a place to fit. He just wants to play, and is willing to take on any role. The competition is good for all of them. CC doesn't need it.
Any hiccups, send the the hiccuper to the bullpen, but not down to AAA.
Glad I could share all this with youse Yankee fans.

So, Doug, did you read it, or just see the word "baseball"?

I come from a family where baseball and religion were both holy. But we didn't follow the Yankees. I almost never heard that word as a kid without the prefix "damned."
T-bob, the rest of us look at having six legitimate starters as the kind of a problem most franchises would like to have, but the kind that only the franchises that try to buy their way to victory actually have. Some people here might say: shoot three of them. Problem solved.

I guess it is a problem that many teams would love to be experiencing, especially at this point in the season. I am rooting for your D'backs, as I've always hated the Giants. As a kid in NYC in the 50s, I had to make a team choice, and I picked the Yankees. Re-alignment, if/when it happens, of all the teams may end up to be verrrrrry interesting. Breaking up the AL East could be a good thing for baseball. Both central divisions could use some good teams. Although the AL/NL mix will take some getting used to. It's getting hared to watch tonight's Yankees/White Sox game, 13-1, top of the 4th. I'd hate to be in the dugout with Ozzie now.

I'm starting to get back into following baseball. Grew up as a hapless Senators fan but when they left town the second time I stopped following any baseball. It took more than ten years for me to start rooting for the O's but I was an O's fan from the late 70's until Angelos ruined the team.
During the 80's and 90's working on Capitol Hill within walking distance of RFK Stadium I daydreamed about a team coming back to DC, but somehow getting the Expos was a disappointment. I always considered myself an AL fan, so it was hard getting used to a bad NL team. I did make a couple of games, but still haven't made it to the new digs which were finished after I moved out of the immediate area. But for the last two seasons--maybe because of the Strasburg signing--I now consider myself a Nats fan and catch a lot of games on TV.

I too have become a Nationals fan. Detroit's always my number 1 team, but being out here it's entertaining to follow the local boys. And I figure my rooting interests won't ever come into conflict unless both teams make it to the World Series. In that case I'll just have to suffer.
And the Nats have been fun this year. Playing good small ball and making the most of somewhat limited talent. Took 2 out of 3 in the last 2 series against division rivals the Mets and the Braves. Could at least end up playing spoiler for someone. It also helps that a Nats player has been the All Star game winner 2 years in a row now. Whoop whoop!
And I also find myself liking the NL game without the DH a bit better than the AL game. More true to the sport and more involved with strategy.
But in the post-season, I'll be looking for the Tigers to crush the Yankees. Nothing personal t-bob.

I wish that I were more of a local baseball fan. I've been a Yankees fan for so long, it's hard to get on board with the As or the Giants, or even the Ms when I lived in Seattle in the 70s and 80s. Seattle didn't even have a team when I moved there in 1970. So guess which games I attended when we finally got a team? ;D I have subscribed to MLB Extra Innings for ten years so I am informed about some of the other teams now. And my son convinced me to join a fantasy league this season. So it's not all Yankees this year...
TV coverage, especially the YES network - they must have cameras everywhere - is so good with replays, that going to games is actually a disappointment. I went to a Giants/Twins game where the Twins jumped out to a 8 run lead in the first inning. I turned to talk to the friend I went with a few times and missed a bunch of action. Not much replay at AT&T Park but great food at the park! But spoiled by technology, we are. At any rate, baseball's my game. Love it!
Edit: Back to sleep, Doug. ;D

I've defected to college baseball. I've completely lost interest in MLB.
Baseball is one sport that works better on radio than on TV. At least it does to me.Maybe it's becasue I grew up with that friendly noise pouring from every house. Giants broadcasts, all.

Chuck Thompson and Jon Miller doing the O's radio broadcasts were superb.

The Cubs season was over in June. And any slight hope the White Sox had has just been crushed by your damned Yankees.
So I'm looking towards football, or basketball, or hockey.

Chuck Thompson and Jon Miller doing the O's radio broadcasts were superb. My best friend's dad got traded to the O's when I was still in grade school. I never forgave the O's, though I should have. Scott was a real imp and got me in the worst trouble. But fun? Yeah! His dad was Stu Miller.

The tv broadcasting team of Ron Darling, Keith Hernandez, and Gary Cohen is the best in sports imo, and as a Mets fan, we're lucky to have em.

"At any rate, baseball's my game. Love it!"
I agree with that. My interest in all the others has faded to little or none. Baseball still holds up.

As long as The Red Sox are ahead of The Yankees, I don't care.
