...I also will not discuss politics with anyone for the duration of the trip. Putting all that aside for some fun time with music. Rob, I've been to quite a bunch of iJams now and I don't think I've ever heard even a hint of political discussion. Just doesn't happen. When we're all face to face stuff like that just seems irrelevant. It never occurs to anyone to bring up politics. I think you'll gain a new appreciation for the dynamic that keeps this group together. Looking forward to meeting you. - Dub

I spoke with Joe Cruze, the guy who owns the Hitchin' Post in Garrison, and he's all ready for us Friday night. He's setting up a bigger and better tent. For those who arrive Thursday I always have to work that day and for a couple of hours Friday morning, but for the past three years we've always gathered in Garrison for lunch. Of course guitars come out and someone brings sound, and that's a nice afternoon in itself.
For the uke players: I've got two uke players who haven't shown up on the forum who I think are coming. If anyone sees a six-foot-three Hawaiian wandering around Vinton wondering where to go, please direct him to the proper destination.

Wishing all of the IJ attendees good weather and a good time. It seems the distance to Vinton has quadrupled this year so I'll just have to wish I was there and "strain my ear for the tune"!
You all have a great time!!

To hell with that Jerry, I'm in mourning again this year. I'm going to go throw myself off the deck. Damned if I won't. I wish we could go, but Lars has a lame gig that weekend with the expletive deleted stupid cowboy band. Don't tell him I said that.

I wish. It's 1500k one way. Not something I could do alone. And Lars would die of jealousy.

Doesn't make it any less of a disappointment. My 3rd IJam and still haven't had the pleasure of meeting either of you. Yes, I'm going to whine some. Notice I didn't mention that my whole trip is 2500 miles over two weeks. ;D

Jerry, what me riled up? LOL. This lioness just wishes she could get to iJam. I miss everyone. For the record, Lars would love to attend as well. It's one of the jewels in our memory.

OK den.
Looks like I'm booked into the Thoroughly Modern Motel for Friday and Saturday nights. it'd be late morning on Friday before i can get outta here. It takes about 5 hours.
Todd's got my cell. I've got his. (I have fond memories of him standing in the middle of the road in front of the Ozone talking me in for a landing. That be a number of years ago.)

I would be there, but ...
Same deal as last year. Newfolden has its "Newfest Days" the weekend after Labor Day.
(it's our date. just as the last weekend in Sept. belongs to Middle River and the last weekend in August belongs to Grygla and the last weekend in July belongs to Steven and Warren Days are, I'm not sure when they are, usually the same weekend as the Fair.)
Anyway, once again, I am in charge of the soundstage/non-stop music deal. And Anna wants to make her stage debut this Newfest (she's a regular little Taylor Swift with a dash of Jewel). And both Anna and Gus are signed up for all kinds of games and activities. And I want to go to the Cartoon Kegger at the Hobo Haus Saturday morning. And Charlene is tied up with the Girl Scouts stuff.
No matter how much I might want to, I just can't get away from Newfest and all its sticky strings.

On the other hand, circumstances permitting, maybe I'll just drive up your way on Sunday and camp out on your lawn.

Epaul -- we are disappointed once again, and will have better beer than the Hobo Haus, but I guess I understand why a Norwegian non-bachelor farmer would rather listen to his lovely daughter sing than hang out with cantankerous middle-aged guys.
