Cool!
My most recent song writing effort was inspired by a trip to the NW area of Colorado (went there to visit my cousin and his wife).
I plan to use the song as "audio" to a slide show of pix from my trip...so as I listen to this song of yours, Renee, and see the photos I am put very much in mind of that trip I took and my own thoughts that were conjured!

This song just doesn't want to get finished, but I think I have it now. I posted a draft for my songwriting forum, got suggestions, posted the "final," linked above. Then I got more suggestions. Then I added an intro, changed a few words and found a way to do the key change that I like better. This time I also recorded through my Carvin Stagemate PA to the Zoom H2 instead of directly into the Zoom H2. The guitar (Gibson LC-1 acoustic-electric) sounds a lot cleaner. But I need to cut back on the highs on the vocal mic. I freely admit that I don't know what I'm doing with the limited equipment that I have. I'm not likely to invest in better equipment. More likely to buy more instruments to add some variety to my songs. I think I need a bass and some percussion. www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=832466&songID=11200705

Did you do a cable connection from the PA to the H2 or just put the H2 in front of the PA speaker?
The latter is what I ended up doing when I recorded the song to use for the DVD I made for my twin granddaughters last month. I plugged my guitar and a vocal mic into my Roland amp and just put my H4 in front of the amp. I needed to use the amp so I could better balance my loud guitar with my softer voice and that seemed to work well.
Honestly, I thought the "audio" quality was better on your last version.
I have no idea what I'm doing either when it comes to the electronics, so I totally understand what you are saying about that, Renee.
Did you drop the key a bit from your last version?

Cyndy, thanks for listening again. Interesting that you like the sound better on the earlier version. The most recent version has a cleaner guitar sound, but the singing is a little distorted on the high notes. One big difference is that when I record through the PA, it's mono. So it's not as rich a sound. I used a cable between the PA and the H2. Mr. H made it for me. There may be something commercially available, but there's no place to shop for such things in our neck of the woods. Plus the one he made has all of the right connections to allow me to both record and play back with only one cable.
I dropped the key from the original version on my second version, which I posted above. I didn't post the original version here. Maybe it sounds like a different key because of my new intro.
I've been giving some thought to how to add another instrument or vocal harmonies. Nothing very good has come to mind. I could play back through my laptop and record that while I play or sing another part. I could buy another H2. I'm lucky to live with a retired electrical engineer who understands all of the technical stuff. But he's not musical and doesn't hear well, so I can't rely on his opinion of the sound.

You might want to invest in one of these: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/439187-REG/Lexicon_LAMBDA_Lambda_Studio_Desktop_Recording.htmlI have one and when I have done my videos I run my mic through that for the audio and use a webcam for the video. It allows for multitrack recording. I find I have no patience to do that...and I have a hard time singing separately from playing my guitar but if you can do that, this allows you to put down any kind of music track(s) and then add a track of vocals. Fingerplucked had to talk me through the ins and outs of this thing when i first got it but if you have an engineer husband who can help, I bet you'd love this!

Thanks, Cyndy. That does seem to be just the kind of thing I need. And the price is right. I'll have to tell Santa about it and have him look at the specs.

Santa said no. Not exactly no, but that the box doesn't do anything that I can't already do . With the 4 channel PA that I already have, he can add one cable and I'll be able to play back a track from our netbook through the PA to the H2 while adding another instrument or vocal harmony. Thus being able to record myself playing or singing two things at once. Or I can buy a cheap MP3 player and download to it from my desktop computer and then use the MP3 player in place of the netbook.
Ain't technology wonderful? And confusing.
