I've seen some adware cause that but it might just be a mouse/touch pad problem. For starters, it's a PC, right? Reboot it and see if the problem stays or if you get any interesting messages.

If it's not a laptop turn your keyboard upside down and shake it violently. You'll be surprised at all the crumbs and crap that fall out. Otherwise, plug in a different keyboard--I'm sure you have another one laying around, right?
If it's a laptop maybe you can give it a blast of compressed air to clean it out.
I've responded to any number of trouble calls where the problem was someone had the Esc key wedged under their desk or had a book laying on it, etc.

If it's a laptop try not resting your hands on the case - that happens a lot when I'm working on my laptop, makes word processing a pain.

Notebook computers have a touch pad. If your mouse doesn't automatically turn off your touch pad, you could be touching the pad with your hand and inadvertently moving the cursor.
My latest Dell turns off the touch pad when it senses another mouse is plugged in. All my previous notebooks, I had to tape a flap of plastic over the touch pad so I wouldn't be moving the cursor to a strange location every time I typed something in.

This happens to me when working on my work laptop (Dell). Torques me off too when it happens.

If I pay attention, I have the touch pad uncovered. That keeps it from happening. I think that's the problemo. Thanks, gents. And it's one of the reasons I dislike laptops. Is there a way to disable the touchpad?

Is there a way to disable the touchpad? Like i said, me Dell now boots up and tells me it has disabled the touchpad when it finds another mouse. But on all previous laptops I taped a flap over the touchpad. There's a way to turn it off in each pc. But you have to go into settings and such to find it. And the few times when I booted up without a mouse, i didn't want to have to scramble to get the stinkin thing activated again. So I just used a flap. There may be a way in settings to tell it to turn off automatically when it finds another pointing device.

Now that you mentioned this, I went into the settings on my Dell and found I can do the same thing!! Thanks! One less thing to frustrate me when using the laptop. I always use an external mouse with my laptop.

The cursor or the mouse pointer?
If it's the cursor and you are on a desktop just replace the keyboard with a spare and see if the problem goes away. Replacement keyboards are dirt cheap and they can go bad easy.
If it's wireless then replace the batteries.
Same thing with the mouse. Replace it and see if the issue goes away. These peripherals are so cheap you can replace them both for less than $30

I think I'm touching the integrated mouse pad while I'm typing, and moving the cursor "on accident". It's a pain in the butt.
