Good morning. Started painting the quilt studio yesterday to take my mind off the third death of a friend in 2 weeks from cancer. After that got as far as the liquor cabinet. On the up side another friend, 1 year after her run in with cancer passed all her tests so some do win, assuming she stays clear. Funny thing is that the current winner is the smoker, well former smoker now. Life's a crap shoot and I hate when folks younger than I are losing. Hoping for a better day today. Got the wife's first Social Security payment this morning. That will help. Have a good day. It's supposed to rain here so maybe I'll get back to playing guitar.

Listen my children and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year.

Morning. Coffee is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy...something like that anyway.
Gotta get a new rear tire for the scooter today but other than that I'm going to put some time in on my music and reading.

Good Morning Good People
Sunny and cool.
Lola comes home today. Gotta get ready for life with a newborn.
Bruce -- my condolences on the passing of your friends. Cancer is everyone's enemy.

This is my Friday. RMMGA-East Coast Gathering at Westmoreland State Park on Virginia's Northern Neck starts tomorrow. Haven't played in months--my fingers are going to be sore. Four nights staying up past 2 am playing, singing, drinking, swapping stories. One should train for this event. I guess I did put in some training time on the drinking part having a big wedding on Easter weekend and the beer fest last Saturday.

How do, tribe -- Well, I played an actual gig last night, first one in a long time, and it was cool because it was a concert setting and people actually sat and listened and clapped and didn't throw stuff or talk on their phones during the hour I was obliged to fill. Other than breaking part of my ring-finger nail, I would rate the evening a success. On another matter, I was alarmed to get this message on my work-based email this morning. It's either our long lost Louisianan (although I can't picture him in Scotland) or the famous author, right? How are you doing? Please I need you to help me out with something. Can I get a loan from you urgently? I`ll reimburse you under a week, I promise. I'm out of the country in Scotland,United Kingdom and need a loan of $1,850.00 or whatever amount if not all. I ran into some problems which I really need to take care of now. I will explain and pay you back immediately I return. Please email back as soon as you get this and I will advise on how you can get it to me. Please keep this between us.
Thanks, Dan

Heloo,
Rainy morning. Our spring has gone from looking like it would be the record beating earliest ever to pretty much normal. It will be on the early side, but it won't be the earliest, just average early. March was warm, record warm, but April will end up being a very middling to even cool, April.
Phenological data. Not a tulip has budded yet. The ones away from the house are only poking up three inches or so. The poplar leaves are the size of a mouse ear. The hyacinths are blooming (have been for a week), willows are showing color, no birch leaves yet, house finches and white crowned sparrows have arrived, not a dandelion in sight yet (the farm record is April 9th, 1987) haven't had to mow but the lawn has greened up nicely.

Good morning ... our early flowers are off to a great start. When we went out 10 days ago to see what houses were available in the neighborhood, we noticed there were no available properties with much in the way of flower beds and gardens. We thought we would attract a gardener. The house went under contract yesterday and Debbie's work in the flower arena was a big reason why. We have 3 weeks to skeedaddle.

Morning, all.
Yesterday was "one of those days"...Rebecca's car repairs, estimated at $500, came in at $1300. Then she found out she lost her lease on her apartment. Then I found out that Rachel lost her job. Geeze!
On the plus side, I decided on Monday that Halliburton was a bargain at $32 ish, so I bought some Jan 2013 calls and sold some May 2012 puts. The company announced an up-side earnings surprise this morning and the both positions are in the chips big time. Its nice to have a winner.
Congratulations on the sale, KB. Those flowers are indeed lovely.
Tam, have fun with Lola!
Cheers, everyone!

Good (late) morning. I was up until 4 am working on radio mixes. I haven't been outside my house since Sunday, I'm really hoping to rejoin the human race by Friday.

When we received one of those "I'm stuck in [some foreign land] and need money" e-mails, it was a signal that the supposed sender's account had been hacked. We called to let her know, and, sure enough, some crooks had cracked her password, changed the account settings, and established one with a slightly misspelled user name so that she wouldn't see the diversion. It's an ingenious scam, but the pattern is easy to spot.
