Having sausage for breakfast today? You folks might enjoy this: www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/man-cooks-serves-own-genitals-to-5-paying-dinersNevertheless, having read thru the Healthcare Costs thread, I'm still very glad to be living in Japan. About ten days ago I had a double (probably useless) ultrasound on my legs--one for veins, the other for arteries. One tech for each, and each about 30 minutes long, add a doc consultation on the front end, and my bill (my share) on the way out of the hospital came to 1860 yen, about $23. Just that, calculated immediately, paid and done right then and there. No forms or followup paperwork that I'll ever see from this. I had an appointment with the doc, but he suggested the tests and I waited for the techs to finish lunch--about three hours total. (I had lunch while waiting, too.)

In BI (before internet) days, we'd likely not know about this.

Good morning from rainy Wisconsin where today's rain is going to set the humidity level nice and high for the upper 90 degree weather predicted for tomorrow! Yikes!
Yesterday, however, was beautiful! My daughter, SIL, and dear little 7 week old Ella came out on the pontoon boat with us for Ella's first boat ride.

Morning. I'm riding down to breakfast with the Beemer Club so no cooking this morning. Secondroy, did you ever run into a guy named Keith Dempster? I think it's a work-on-the-house day. My favorite thing. Tomorrow is the Red Geranium Society in The Cemeteries of Polk County.

Good Morning Good People
Rainy morning, likely to clear off so I can exercise my horticulturally nurturing side and plant some stuff.
Mizz Resolve -- I'm very impressed with Mizz Ella's life preserver. Got me wondering whether Mizz Lola would like a kayak ride.
Have a substantial Saturday one and all.

Dar's at an agility event in Lafayette and just called 'cause the van went dead overnight. She got it jumped because we always carry a couple of deep cycle batteries with us (we use them at shows). But we don't know why the van lost its charge overnight. I'm hoping it's not a bad alternator, but it doesn't look good. She stopped by an Advanced Auto Parts store and had the six year old battery replace. They then did a quick diagnostic test that showed the alternator not up to snuff, but the guy said that that wouldn't be an unusual first reading with a new battery after the alternator had just been working an almost completely dead battery. Anyway, Dar's weekend is ruined and she's heading home instead of participating in the agility event.

Mizz Resolve -- I'm very impressed with Mizz Ella's life preserver. Got me wondering whether Mizz Lola would like a kayak ride. Daughter and I did a bit of research and this seemed like the best option (Overton's brand). It's made of breathable fabric and the foam is very light. Instead of a typical strap between the legs the bottom is sort of like an elastic leg pants. Ella is a very long baby. If she was of shorter torso I'm not sure this kind would have worked very well. You would be well advised to take Lola along for a "fitting" when shopping.

Howdy, all -- Well, I have already cut the grass and grocery-shopped and watched qualifying for the Manaco Grand Prix, now it looks like storms are on the way So I will switch to indoorst stuff like a haircut, car oil change, maybe a wine tasting, for sure some cooking. Tomoro brings the Monaco race as well as the Indy 500, a gearhead's Paradise Weekend. Monday brings a news shift at work -- holiday shifts are shorter, though, so I will start at 3:30 and be done before 9. How can I combine a roaster chicken and fresh spinach? I don't think stuffing it would work!

Good morning. Should be beautiful here at least for the next couple of days. Already cleaned the pool and cut down a dead Japanese Maple which might get cleaned up if I can find any more ambition. I understand it's a 3 day weekend for most but of course it's just another 7 day weekend for us retirees.
Jim, I hope you're feeling better or the drugs are working, either way.
