From BillHammond: How can I combine a roaster chicken and fresh spinach? I don't think stuffing it would work! Hey Bill, try slitting the skin open in a few places and inserting some of the spinach under the meat. Turns out pretty good.

What's a 3 day weekend when you're retired? We'll be staying home except for the Memorial Day commemorations. Had breakfast this morning of omelets with goat cheese, baby portabellas and green onions. Also homemade apple bread and jasmine tea. OJ for me and TJ for Mr. H. He made the excellent omelets. The apple bread was the last of a loaf that I made.
Jim, heal. All others, enjoy the long weekend.

I meant to buy spinach but grabbed a tub of mixed greens by mistake, so I think I will just make a nice salad to go with the chicken, which I butterflied and rubbed with oil, herbs and garlic powder. Just about done. Smells mightee fine here!

He was once president of (I think) the national BMW motorcycle club and used to host large BMW rallies at his place near Iowa City, IA. I thought you might have met him. He's been off the bike for a while now, I think. My brother introduced him to BMWs back in the 1960s and Keith became an instant fan.

... Anyway, Dar's weekend is ruined and she's heading home instead of participating in the agility event. John, maybe you could set up some tires and hurdles and stuff for Dar to run through when she gets home. Just google up some NFL training youtubes and maybe some old American Gladiator clips for ideas. It won't be the same as if she were competing at an actual event, but she will appreciate your thoughtfulness and it would be a great way to limber up after a long car ride. You could invite some neighbors over for beer and burgers and they could simulate the crowd (if these events have crowds). You could announce her times as completes each course and people could cheer. Invite Rob over. He could race Dar through the tires and up the tree and back. .

I don't have to set anything up. We have agility equipment all over the yard. I'll make sure to get some video. Normally Dar's kinda camera-shy, but for this I bet she'd come out of her shell. Anything for agility. I long-distance-arranged to get a new alternator put on the van so's she doesn't have to come home early, though. (if you test an alternator and it reads "excessive ripple" that's not as good as it sounds). But I'll have her run the back yard course just for fun anyway.

....oh, and this van has been almost completely worry free for 170,000 miles, but this IS the second alternator I've had to have put on it.

Excessive Ripple is the cheap wine I used to buy while in college. That and Ripple Pagan Pink. I had quite the palate. Glad Dar did not have to quit the fun stuff and just come home to you, John. Wait, that did not sound quite right.

Late but here. Today was guitar lesson day, followed by day two of the 4000K weekend. I'm trying to burn 1000 calories a day for four days of workouts. Two down, two to go. I've also taken to calling my heart rate monitor the Humble-tron. Lovely weather out here.

Pretty hot here today, and I'm feeling it.
I just finished eight hours worth of sprinkler relocating and retaining wall locating. All done now, so our walkway project (at some point I'll get around to taking some pictures) is nearing the finish line.
Right now I'm basking in that feeling of having finished everything I set out to do today, so now I get to do nothing for a while.

Dar's at an agility event in Lafayette and just called 'cause the van went dead overnight. She got it jumped because we always carry a couple of deep cycle batteries with us (we use them at shows). But we don't know why the van lost its charge overnight. I'm hoping it's not a bad alternator, but it doesn't look good. She stopped by an Advanced Auto Parts store and had the six year old battery replace. They then did a quick diagnostic test that showed the alternator not up to snuff, but the guy said that that wouldn't be an unusual first reading with a new battery after the alternator had just been working an almost completely dead battery. Anyway, Dar's weekend is ruined and she's heading home instead of participating in the agility event. Nothing good can happen that close to Purdue.

That's where you are wrong, Mr Plainfield-breath! In spite of said car troubles, Dar slogged through the excessive heat and Breeze had yet another qualifying run toward his master's title.

Oh, and why does epaul want to kill me by having me race Breeze?
Good job, Breeze!

I was going to say that, but I was too late. But I'm here. We took the day off to go goof off. Lunch at Napoli's, the Italian restaurant at Garden City Airport, then a couple of hours of shopping, and watched "The Avengers". It was marvelous.
