for practically nothing. A couple of pitching prospects, and the Yanks get some cash, plus the Mariners eat most of Ichiro's remaining contract. Yankee haters will be whining and complaining big time, but I'm sure more than a few AL teams are envious. If, for example, the O's had done this deal, there would be nothing but praise for their GM for making this deal happen. Smart acquisition... especially with Gardner gone for the season, and the two other platooners at 40 and 35 years. As you all know, I am a huge Yankees fan. I've thought for the last year or so, the Yanks should be going after Ichi. They didn't ask for my opinion though...

Meanwhile the Mets bullpen blows another as my Nats score 6 in the 10th. Yet another game where Jordan Zimmeran goes six and gives up 0, 1, or 2 runs and doesn't get the win. He's gone at least six in 18 straight games.

The Mariners seem to be good at trading away talent.

Baseball -- is that the game with the little round ball and a wooden stick? I've heard some people watch it between football seasons.

Say what you will, but baseball and football are both basically 12 minutes of action stretched out over 3 hours. (And I say this as a fan of both sports.)
