Yea, Buddy I was Think'n of Ya Last night High up on the mountain tell me what you see Bear tracks bear tracks are lookin' back at me Better get your rifle boy before it's too late The bear's got a little big and headed through the gate He's big around the middle and he's broad across the rump Doin' ninety miles an hour takin' thirty feet a jump He ain't never been caught and he ain't never been treed Some folks say he looks a lot like me I saved up my money and bought me some bees They started makin' honey way up in the trees I cut down my tree and my honey's all gone Ole Slew Foot's done made himself at home He's big around the middle... Winter's comin' on and it's twenty below The river's froze over so where can he go We'll chase him up the gully and we'll run him in the well We shoot him at the bottom and we'll listen to him yell He's bigger round a middle...

I'm no expert, I got 80% on the test. I was sure it was a black bear before I took the test, and remain convinced. It's missing the hump. The only one that looks like a grizzly to me is the very last picture you put up.

Tim the professional bear catcher came last night and looked at the pics and said young male grizzly - no doubt. Then he said "we may need a bigger trap".
Swell
So they hung a nastier hunk of deer leg and relocated the trap back in the woods, then strung a mesh electric deterrent fence around the shed the bear keeps busting up and we shall see.
We set up the camera so should get some pics of him checking the trap out - more to follow.
Mm

Wow, you sure aren't very nice to your women out there in Montana!

So he's a griz for sure? Guess you want shed of him soon as you can.
Once saw a cabin the bears had busted in. Knocked thru some stout shutters and the glass window. Scattered flour and sugar and pepper all over. Bit thru cans of salmon and stew. Strew the pantry and cabinet contents all over. Busted stuff.
You wouldn't want this boy to get bold enough to come down to your house. Too bad you can't take him.

I have to say this is really cool to me. "Is it a kitty, a doggy, or a fox?" is about the only question I have to worry about.

All you had to do when he got that close was goose him and he would have jumped in.

What, they don't use old donuts anymore, Mm? Kook - I asked that very question - Lord knows it would be an improvement on the current smell wafting thru my yard at the moment. The biologist informed me they prefer to use natural baits(carrion) so as not to possibly condition a bear to...well...hang out at Dunkin' Donuts all hours of the day

Part of me thinks its really cool that bears live by your house. Very natural, primitive, outdoorsy. The other part of me thinks, CRAP I don't want a bear in MY yard. Deer, doves, chukar, even racoons, are great, but no bears or cougars please.

They don't want the gators to associate food with people.

I noticed that between the two pictures, that big fella moved the trap trailer a little bit.
