My soon to be ex-wife is having a hip replacement done today. I am destined to be @ UCSF most of the day. Ick! My knee replacement will be in Jan or Feb. My turn...

OK... surgery very successful. Another visit in an hour (I can handle that), then home to veg out.

I work in a hospital, but I don't like being a patient; I'm not a very patient patient.
One thing I like about the hospital in which I work is that it is in a large metro area and is equiped to handle most things; the stuff we can't handle we turf over to one of the nearby Level 1's.
We have onsite MRI and CT which are staffed 24/7. At the little country hospital in my hometown if someone needs a CT at 0300 you have to call in a tech from home and it's unlikely it will be scanned by 0400 or read by 0500. Where I work, if someone needs a scan at 0300 it's done AND read by 0320 if ordered stat.
We can do tPA for strokes, Arctic Sun for MI's, and have a full vascular team available all the time.
But, it's not as big as the U's hospital or HCMC (which are monstrously big and sprawling). Like Goldilocks would say, it's just right.

Some of the nurses at the Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok are.... INDESCRIBABLY gorgeous.
