I have Wednesdays off, so after some morning prep for tomorrow and Friday, I did 65km for 6/5. For dinner later I'm doing a tomato-chicken sauce for pasta, plus salads.

Good morning. Where's Paul?
Played 9 holes of golf yesterday no hole worse than a 6. That's a record for me. I usually have a couple of 8s or worse in there somewhere. 5 6s and 4 5s for 50 total. That's half way to 100 for 18 and 90% of golfers never really break 100. A year ago I was averaging 120 so I think I've progressed to average duffer now.
Today, I need to concentrate on what I'll play tonight but it would be another beautiful golf day, sunny and 75F, light breeze. It's going to be tough not going to the course.
Have a good one.

Kilometers are tough to convert in my head, but I'm guessing that's about 40 miles. The fraction is easy, though, that's 1 1/ 5, or 120%.

Where's Paul?
Collecting boxes and bringing them to the shop, time to start packing some of the stuff I don't use often. Hydration chamber is done for the year so I took it apart and will pack it in a box until next Winter when it will be needed. About 70% of the Podium stock has been sold, the place is looking pretty bare. Downstairs is empty except for the office and shop.

Went to a nice open mic in Palatine. Mac's on Slade. The place is normally a blues place. They do an open mic on Tues, and an acoustic night on Thurs. Other than that it's small bands. Nice crowd. Mac is a cool guy. I'll probably pester him about getting a Thursday night gig next time I go there.
There was a talented young lady, Natalia, there. She was very good. great voice. Did her own stuff. We talked briefly as we were both leaving. I will look for her around town.
And a good old guy (like me?) who plays jazzy tunes quite well on his D'Angelico archtop. I've seen him before around. Great player. Vocally he's so-so; a little too impressed with himself for the quality of his presentation. But good.
And of course me.
And then some young 20-somethings in a 4 piece band. They were pretty good. Just too loud for the room. Couldn't understand a workd they sang. Sounded good. Just mumbo-jumbo.
Then right before I left another band got up; The Nick Bell Band. . . . , WOW ! If you like hard rock/blues guitar, this guy is as good as anybody. REALLY. He looks like a younger better looking Steve Vai. Got the hair going and the head bobbing and the trance-like look as he plays. But the boy sure can play. Uses effects. Great distortion sound and tone out of his strat clone. Never overpowered the room. Just played really tasty intricate stuff. The tunes ran a little too long for my taste. More like an electric guitar instrumental with occasional vocal breaks. Great bar-room rock-out stuff. But not the middle of my cup of tea.
He had a very solid drummer and bass player with him. And a vocal guy that has very appropriate sound for blues singing. They're very good. Their songs all (they did 2 10 minute numbers) include rhythm and tempo changes; morphing in and out of melody lines. They hit all the changes like falling out of bed.
I'm sure we'll hear more of this guy. He's got the skill set and the looks to get media attention.

Yep, it's afternoon......
Preparing to head out tomorrow morning for Cedar Rapids and my nephew Dennis's wedding. Some of you met him and his twin brother at IdiotJam the past two years. Going to be a long, as in 12-13 hours of driving tomorrow, but with 3 drivers we should be able to knock it out in one day. We'll be seeing Dub and Joy on Friday, and still hoping to see Todd, Kim, and the girls too.
