My internal clock is still in Daegu. Neurology appointment with Juliet tomorrow. All went well today. Claire was a riot in the recovery room after getting four wisdom teeth out.

My internal clock is still in wherever this might be a decent hour. Not here, at any rate. Oh geez, poor Claire. Hope things go well at the neurology office.

Out with the dog about noon, then a pension info session, then 40 laps, then made a simple pasta for dinner. Wife had a late meeting so she was able to just come home and enjoy.

Good morning.
Upper 50s yesterday so golf was almost comfortable. Back to the 30s today, no golf for me, but just today. Supposed to get back to the 70s this weekend. Other than the confusion that causes my body, it ain't all bad.
I met a tree service guy at the post office yesterday, brought him back to the house to look at the apple and pear trees that need pruning and don't produce due to being overgrown. He'll prune those trees, take down 2 more that are threatening to break the fence out back and bring his Bobcat and flatten some debris piles out back, left by the former owner, all for under a grand. I paid that in Philly to take down one tree. Got to love the Eastern Shore and the Post Office. This guy did the original lot clean-out for this house and does the serious tree work at the Country Club so he must be OK as far as I can tell.

That's a good deal, Bruce. Some guy around here wanted $2K to take one tree out. 2K... Sheesh.
As long as the guy you hired is the one doing the serious work at the Country Club, you should be good. My father used to say, "beware the tree specialists in the clown suits. Can't trust 'em."
OK, maybe I made that up.

My niece finished up a total of 24 hours of surgery across 2 days yesterday. Doctors are optimistic that they got it all but will have to watch carefully for a while. After being cut in half she's been bolted, fused, and sewn back together. But she's tough (and unconscious for the near future) and everything looks promising at this juncture. Gotta celebrate the good stuff when it's available.
Thanks for all your concern.

Last day in Vegas. Strange how one hour can mess up you internal clock. Vegas is almost straight north of Kingman but it's Pacific Time vs Mt time.

Up early. No idea why. It is supposed to hit about 35 today so maybe some of this snow will at least consider melting. Have a good one.

G'mornin' - it's 44 headed to a high of 42, seems like we must be going through a cooling trend.

Good morning everyone. Well that block of ice that was part of the ice storm is almost gone now. Thank you above. Had a great feed on fish last night--blackened talapia. (sp.) I can usually spell spanish words. The wife may come home from the hospital today or tomorrow and I'll sure be glad to have her. 57 years of marriage and I guess you get used to each other. I sure do love her and I miss her. She's still as foxy at 78 as she was when I married her.
Have a good day everyone.

Aqua, glad to hear the good prognosis on your niece. Bruce, we call them "woodchucks" down here although I hear they don't love that term. Every other pickup truck has a tree service logo on it. Brought the two 1/4 kegs of Blue & Gray brewery lager and "Fred Red" in this morning. Luckily we can park them in our nitrate vaults which are about 40 degrees. Band is all setup with new JBL floor monitors and mains. Might even be able to hear ourselves this year--although that's not always a good thing

It's snowing. Isn't that effing amazing? The last time I saw snow this deep in mid-December was in 1976. The big snows of the 70s disappeared in the eighties and we have had pretty "normal" amounts for years and years. But today I looked at the growing canyon that defines our driveway and walk, I remarked that this is more like mid-February amounts. It rained most of the spring and summer and it seems that it is just continuing. The Great Lakes need the moisture and I guess I shouldn't complain. It's pretty. Unless you're driving. Larry is just out to fetch the snow blower to clear my path out of here.

My father used to say, "beware the tree specialists in the clown suits. Can't trust 'em." OK, maybe I made that up. I've found tree removal fees to be extremely flexible. I've had it done three times and I usually bring in 4 to 6 guys for quote. First I let them quote, which accomplishes nothing. Then I take the last guy's quote, shave 10% to 20%, and tell the new guy that that's the best price I have so far and ask if he can beat it. When I get to the point where two or more guys say they can't beat or even meet it, I go with the best price. We had a 60' to 70' ash tree removed a couple months ago for $250. The price also included stump removal. And removing one trunk of a big bush. The guy did everything he was supposed to on the ash tree. He showed up at the door a few days later looking for payment. I showed him the bush he was supposed to remove, and told him I wasn't paying until the job was done. He said he'd send his guys over within the week, but I haven't heard back from him since. I can take care of the bush myself, so if he doesn't want to finish the job, that's okay with me. There's no such thing as a $2,000 tree unless you're talking about a 300 year old redwood that you can drive your car through.

G'Day. 19" of snow so far. Not in one shot. Several two to three inch events (and one six incher). We are definitely Christmasy.
