Going out on a limb here thinking T-Bob typed Tuesday but meant Thursday. So I edited the title.

I have spent the last three days without TV, land line or computer hook up to the internet (internet access confined to phone). It has been a long and unfamiliar run. Today I wait in the living room, tapping my foot, looking out the window, and ruing the absence of digital entertainment. Has it really come down to this?

A cold front will pass through this afternoon, and we'll have highs in the low 40s tomorrow. Yuk

We had a heck of a storm blow through here last night, replete with hail. That's kind of strange for October, no? Consequently, we all overslept, the girls both having piled in on top of Kathy and I last night. I think there may have been a cat at the foot of the bed, too.

G'mornin' - I've just guaranteed that we'll have our driest winter in recorded history - I got some EXCELLENT rain gear - keep you dry in sou'easter rain gear - so it's not raining - even when predicted, just passing right over the island looking sour.

Last night's playlist, as taped to the side of the guitar but I mixed the order some. Sang some but lots of instrumentals:
"Autumn Leaves", Jonny Mercer lyric, Am capo 3 (vocal) "Georgia On My Mind " by Hoagy Carmichael "Unchained Melody (vocal) "Windmills of your mind", Em, Michel LeGrand (vocal) "Misty", Erroll Garner "It's Over", Jimmy Rodgers, D, 5th fret (vocal) "Anji", Davey Graham, Am capo 3 "Stardust" by Hoagy Carmichael "Ebb Tide", Sigman/Maxwell
Not the average set for a bar around here.
I was left on stage for awhile obviously. While making my way back to the rear of the room I was stopped by 6 or so people to say how much they enjoyed the set. Once I sat at the back table some others came over to say how much they enjoyed the set or the guitar work or the music in general. I guess that's what keeps me doing it. Got asked to play at a restaurant south of here sometime but said I'll have to think about it. Was contacted by a guy at the local radio station this morning wondering if I wanted to do some studio recording. Told him I'd have to think about it too.

Never say no to recording, except, um, well, that's another long story. By the way, good morning.

Good morning. Spent most of last night wandering around trying to sleep. Then I remembered I had a bottle of Glenfiddich. hrrrm. Slept like a baby. Just got up.

You ought to just stay with that program. There's nothing on TV that you need to watch. Even the news on TV is, for the most part, unneeded. Keep your set, and use it to watch a DVD once in a while, but dump the cable. Keep the Internet but don't use it for entertainment. You'll be surprised how happy you'll be.

Should have done that years ago.

That works for some folks. And for those of us who just like what we like, the telly is one source of enjoyment among many.
(For the record, I review two or sometimes three books a month, read a couple or three more for pleasure, go to movies, play out twice a week, hold a season ticket to the Chamber Music Society series, work two or three folk-society concerts a month, and still have time to hang out here. And I keep up with Doctor Who, Miss Marple, and a fistful of crime shows thanks to the miracle of Tivo. Of course, as a retired geezer, I have the time for all that and my nap.)
