So far the only bad thing I've heard about iOS 8 is that it runs REAL slow on an iPhone 4.

Both Fiddlerina and I have been using iOS 8.1 for a while now. iPhones 4S & 5S, iPads 2 & "New" (4). So far no problems.
There were problems with 8.0 and its hurried update (8.02?) but the latest version seems stable.

My son works at an Apple store and he is loving the latest version of 8.

Only complaint I heard is from a friend that wanted to forward a photo in a text message. For some reason Apple took the "microphone" out of the keyboard for texting on forwarded photos. So she couldn't talk her message. SHe's all upset about that. She talked to the Apple experts and they agreed the new OS took out the microphone optins. But they didn't know why.
I always hate it when some fancy new software upgrade TAKES AWAY FUNCTIONALITY you've grown accustomed to using.

My sentiments exactly, Marshall. Between taking something away, and screwing up other stuff, I've grown very reluctant to upgrade just about anything unless I can see some compelling reason to.

Computer programs (OS) are like cars changes for the sake of making you spend more money for no gain. The price of a new car could be cut by over 50% if they kept the same body and drive train and accessories for 10 yrs.

Except it's a free update. Free except for the new programs you will have to by to replace the ones you have that won't work on the new OS. And I know that's not just a problems for M$ users I think it was Lonnie that was complaining about that and I think he's a Apple guy.
