OK, we have had threads about war, racism, religion, politics, intrigue, and plagerism. (Thankyou Dave Barry) We have discussed tone woods, microphone stands, amps, strings, picks, to the nth degree. But this is important. For years and years, I was able to buy great bitter Seville orange marmalade from Trader Joes. It was a staple of my house, and I delightfully partook of this comestible, never thinking that someday it would not be available. But something happened a few years ago. It disappeared from Traders shelves. I did a little research, and I forget the details, but the company changed or was sold or something, and though you could find it online, at $30.00 bucks a jar it seemed prohibitively expensive. So, for years, I went without. Well, I'm here to say that the drought is over, the heavens have opened, and once again I can enjoy peanut butter toast with marmalade. This is the stuff. www.englishteastore.com/marmalade/du18ma16.htmlShipping is a bit spendy, but if you buy four jars at a time, it comes out to about seven dollars a jar. I can and will attest that this is very good. Mike

Being that orange marmalade is just about the only jam/jelly I'll touch it's nice to know there is something out there besides Smucker's or Knott's. We just got back from breakfast at the Little Oven, fabulous, and I was happy they had marmalade, even if it was Smucker's.

Nice. A good orange marmaade, with that touch of bitterness, is like no other spread in the world. I do love a good raspberry jam, but orange marmalade is right up there besdie it.

Not to sidetrack or anything, but I've been searching for months for Williams' Shaving Soap, the lovely $1.59 bar of round soap that fits so nicely in my favorite shaving mug... gone from Walgreen's, gone from Target, gone from everywhere. What's available is some sort of $9.95 gourmet shaving soap... buy two and you get a Neimann Marcus hoodie. So I emailed the Williams company, and they don't make it anymore. I wonder if I can shave with orange marmalade.

my store stopped selling Mt Olive's Bread'n'Butter Relish. You can't count on anything these days.

Umm, Lonnie, I'm looking at your avatar and it appears that you've been out of shaving soap for a long time.

I spread butter on my face and shave with a fillet knife I found in the woods. I love orange marmalade but we never think to buy it for some reason. I don't know why because I love it. I actually shave with some trendy and expensive stuff made by Lab that I get at Macy's. One jar lasts a year which is good because it costs $20. It makes my face as soft and cuddly as a baby's, though. I use one of those razors that has about 5 blades in each cartridge. Could be more. There are a lot. I keep seeing references to Harry's Shaving System on the internet. Supposed to be cheaper and better than the Schick and Gillette razors. Anyone know whether it is?

Sorry to continue the hijack, but Lonnie could try the Proraso shaving cream products. They aren't all that expensive, and I really like 'em!

To wrench this back toward marmalade--Oddly enough, we find interesting marmalades (and similar goodies, including dark chocolate) at TJ Maxx and Marshall's. It's a crapshoot, since their stock is overstock, but it's from froo-froo boo-teeky stores. Lots of English and French spreadables.

I was out and about for a while today so I stopped by Byerly's/Lund's store and sure enough the had some English made Seville orange marmalade, Dickinson's Fine Cut, about $3.50. Very tasty and not as sweet as the Smucker's. Also found a nice black cherry preserve for DaWife.
