Emerald's harp guitar. Absolutely gorgeous, to me. What do you think?

Um, well, as we say in Minnesota, it's certainly different.

Does it come in blue? Check in the back.
Blue would match my Kitchen.

It looks fantastic! I'd probably change a few things. For one,I'd probably opt for fewer strings--maybe just have six or so. That way I could get rid of all that extraneous construction on the bass side of the body. That would have the added benefit of making the instrument lighter in weight. Next I'd probably change the shape of the headstock to something that's visually appealing. Finally, I'd probably make it out of a material that might actually sound good when strung up with guitar strings--probably something like wood.
Other than those few minor changes, I'm totally on board with this thing.

I actually do think it looks cool. I could never play it, though. It would be one of those things I would whip out to impress people. God knows I don't have much I can whip out to impress people so this would be a welcome item for whipping out. Imagine pulling this thing out as people walked by and just shocking the holy moly out of them. Some would be shocked but there would be a few who might stop and stare and maybe do a low whistle or something. Millring does things like that all the time in Warsaw. He is on some list over there.

None of you like harp guitar at all? First harp guitar player I heard was John Doan, who did an album for Narada years ago. It had the extra set of treble strings as well. Those are actually played more like a harp, and add a nice touch of difference to a tune.
It's all a matter of how it's played. Andy McKee plays a lot of harp guitar, as does Antoine Dufour. The bass strings, when used well, add a huge depth to the playing.
It's an interesting instrument, and a very historical instrument in the US.
As to CF, well, you're a bunch of barbarians. And why try to make it look look like a piece of wood? It's not, and I can get into the colour.

You tell them, Rick. Wood guitars are so 19th century. And not green.

Rick, I suspect that the reactions are not to the sound of harp guitar. . . .

Six strings totally baffle me. Why would I want more?

I know Don Clark loves his harp guitar and I've watched Muriel Anderson play one. Truth be told, I still can't see much point in them. If you put that same energy into working out new arrangements and techniques on a REAL guitar you and your audience will be way ahead, IMHO.

Michael Hedges YouTube page is definitely worth a visit, in my opinion. He was a wonderful musician and singer.

Very cool. What amp are you running it through? That thing's got to kill on power chords.

In another context, that's like saying if Jerry Douglas finally put down that bar and started using frets and a flatpick he'd finally get somewhere. Or if Sam Bush got rid of that toy mini-archtop and got the right number of strings we'd all be better off. A harp guitar is a different instrument than its 6-string relative, and those who dedicate themselves to it (usually) aren't doing it for novelty's sake. Surprisingly tone-deaf response, IMHO.

Someday all you'll need as a luthier is a 3D printer, strings and a few tuning machines.
