Happy day for Grampa Hammond, as I am winging my way to Asheville for four days with my dottirs, my grand-nugget Afton and various dogs, cats and rats. Affie turns 1 tomorrow and the big party for her is Saturday. Can't wait to reunite with everyone. My timing is good, too, as the weatherfolks are saying that the Twin Cities temp should drop to minus-20 on the Sat-Sun overnight -- it should be around plus-50 where I yam.

the dogs were especially annoying this morning, and are still staring at me, using canine mind control to get me to feed them RIGHT NOW!! obviously they're not very good at it, but it is wearing me down. another day in the 40s with spritzes of water, the kind of winter I can live with  |
