Good morning and I'm vertical still. Keep it up, Bob. Pretty early there. Cute nurses on the night shift? I check the calendar in the kitchen in the morning for any appointments and noticed it has tomorrow as June 31st. Did I miss a leap-year change or something? I checked July and it still starts on a Friday, which is good 'cause I get my pension payment on the 1st of the month. Wonder what's going to go wrong today? The sun's out. I must be missing something.

Hard to believe we're halfway through 2016. Cooler today, heavier marine layer, should be cleared up by noon, fairly breezy. Yesterday I bought a new refrigerator, because the one sitting in my kitchen thawed everything in the freezer and chill box side wasn't much cooler then 55 degrees (F). It started doing this last Friday. I thought it might be 'defrosting' so I waited it out, moved stuff to the freezer in the shop, and pulled out an older 'spare' reefer on the backporch. It was still warm when I left for town yesterday. The new refrigerator will be delivered Saturday. This morning the @#%# chill box is working just fine, freezer freezing, chill box chillin'. I think karma is paying me back - sure wish I knew for what.

Morning
A nice 77F but with a slight chance of some rain.
Got a full days work done in the shop with no interruptions yesterday, sure makes a difference in how many things get done. Need a few more days like that to get caught up so I have time to do a run of string winders that I have requests for.

Well my slight chance or rain just turned into a T-storm. Just got a huge roll of thunder as the storm approaches E. St. Paul. Being cooler today I have all the windows open, better go close them.

Black Beauty has been exhibiting some strange front end noises lately -- I was hoping to have it checked out next week when it's due for an oil change at the dealer, but yesterday it seemed to worsen and I needed to assure myself it was safe, so I called a privateer shop, Como Imports, that Barb has patronized for years, and they told me to bring it in this morning and they would check it out. This place just happens to be right across the street from a bus stop, where I caught a coach that took me downtown to within two blocks of my office, so that was slick indeed.
They called a little while later, they are buttoning up a splash shield, but more important, both front sway bars are being replaced -- one was broken and detached, while the other looked about to fail. Whew, dodged that bullet.

Heyyyyy.....
Yep, I'm still here too and enjoying it immensely.
Cardiac rehab wore me out, so a nap is in order. Will try to be back up by 2:30 or so. Want to finish getting the backyard mowed up for the weekend. Will spend the weekend in the quiet of my backyard and in the pool. And in front of the grill.

Spent the morning with my BFF. Her hubs and she are long time friends of my late husband and me and in fact were the ones who came to stay with me those first few days after my husband unexpectedly passed away. I spent a week in Mexico with them this past March when they were kind enough to let me tag along as 3rd wheel on the vacation that was intended for 4. Just very special people. Her hubs (just turned 70) started feeling very easily winded about a month ago when we were guests at their home for a large gathering, but nothing too concerning. The downward spiral was intense and when I saw him this morning I was shocked. He has congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy. Some paperwork I saw said something about left ventricle dysfunction with ejection at 15%. The doctors have said this is very bad and while he is not a candidate for a transplant (BFF has to ask more questions about the reason for that) he may be looking at an artificial heart. The last med (started Tues) seems to have wrought some improvement and the anti nausea drugs are allowing him to get some food down so if he continues to "improve" they have an appointment at the transplant clinic a week from now. Aging. Not a fun run.

'spare' reefer on the backporch. No wonder Doug likes to visit.

Aging. Not a fun run. Aw Cyndy.....that's rough for sure. Sadly enough, there are some that can't go for transplant. Guitarist Pete Huttlinger had a congenital heart condition that left that option unavailable. He did live his last few years with the use of a Left Ventricle Assist Device, or LVAD. The LVAD is basically an implanted turbine pump that connects to a battery pack worn outside. I have another friend in Florida with one and he is doing fine. Sometimes they are used as a temporary "fix" until the right heart is found or until the patient is strong enough to have the transplant. I had a balloon pump (inserted through femoral artery) that kept me alive for a bit over a week until my heart showed up. My ejection fraction was at 19%, my friend's in Florida was down to 10%.
