Leave it to Dub to come up with a sensible, accurate response.

How's Thursday lunch looking in Dinkytown, (what's left of it?). I supposedly land at the aiport at 1:05 pm. To get my bags and drive into town sorta looks like it will eat up 1 1/2 hours, outside 2 hours. Puts lunch at 2:30 or 3PM. Is that going to be a problem? I'm happy with a late lunch and conversation followed by a visit to the Podium. Is that going to work for you folks in the area? Doc

Doc Without even leaving the terminal you can hop on light rail and ride it downtown, where I could meet you and drive you to Dinkytown. Are you renting a car from an airport-based agency?

Renting from an agency. Mapquest sez 40 minute ride light rail, 25 minute drive. But with taxiing across the airport, deplaning, getting baggage and car, I'm adding about an hour. Where to park near the restaurant?

I checked parking in Dinkytown and it is still difficult at best so I'm changing location to Howe's Daily Kitchen at 37th st and Minnehaha ave just down the street from the Podium, stones throw from Lonnie's place.

Looks like it's as official as it can be. I'll be driving up on the 8th- should get in around 8 or 9 pm. Staying with factorychef and leaving before the butt crack of dawn on Sunday to get back to work on Monday. I'll be bringing the Gibson menage a trios and the Mesa amp rig. Get to teach Marshall what a real electric guitar is.

Do Iowans serve hush puppies (the bread, NOT the shoes) at their Fish Fry? At the American Legion, probably not. But many Iowa restaurants serve them with fish.

We'll see you there, Peter. That's a lot of driving in a very short time, but you've got good accommodations, I can attest to that.
Chili, hush puppies up here are only in places like Long John Silvers. You won't be seeing any at the fish fry. They should have sliced white bread, though!

Guess "the boots" will stay in the closet. The fates have conspired against my making it to IJam this year. It's been a year. Have learned to just roll with it. Will miss seeing all of you. Next year!!!
