I dreamed I saw John Bach last night, alive as you and me, But John says I you're two hundred sixty-seven years dead, I never died says he, I never died says he.
In Leipzig, John, by God says I, they did surgery on your eyes, Says he the part that didn't die lives on to organ-ize, Lives on to organ-ize.

If you tuned the calendar to a Bach-era temperament, his birthday would actually be next week.

If I had to take one album to a desert island, it would be Christopher Parkening plays Bach. A glorious album of music and playing.

If I had to take one album to a desert island, it would be Christopher Parkening plays Bach. A glorious album of music and playing. And if you take it on CD you can signal ships.

Just back from a lovely concert at Ordway Hall, home of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, which tonight welcomed pianist Jeremy Denk to join them in a pain-free program of Beethoven, Bartok and Brahms. (Whole lotta B's going on.)
It was an evening marred only by two incredibly maxi-perfumed biddies right in front of us, and of course my inhaler was at home. Oh, well, breathing is SO overrated ...
