G'dafternoon. (5pm)
Got a coat of paint on the porch wood, old and dry and bare from the sander so it really soaked it up. Will try to put a second on early tomorrow before it gets too hot. It looks great--there are some things I'm not doing, and the color I chose happens to match really well.

Up and awake. It rained all day yesterday, so the dog got to go outside alone. Our yard is fenced, but I usually go out to keep him honest.
Sure as anything, I put him out unsupervised yesterday and he dang near destroyed one of my blueberry bushes by right digging next to it. Rainy days make doggie sniffers go into overdrive, and whatever he was after was right there.
Today, it's off to the Home Depot for several 4 x 4s and a roll or two of some kind of fencing to put around the bushes. I'm sure that will be fun to mow around - not...

Good morning. Summer left overnight. It's 62 out. Did the mowing yesterday so I didn't have any plans for today anyway. Probably a good day to sit out on the back porch with a guitar.
Happy Sunday.

Good morning, another glorious and unseasonably comfortable weather day here in WNC, my last day in town, alas. The dottirs, their spouses and Grand-Nugget will all gather this afternoon at a very cool log-cabin BBQ place for a farewell dinner. It was a WPA project and originally the clubhouse for a public golf course but now has a much higher calling -- Meat & Three. My time here has flown past and I am already sad that I won't be back until January, most likely. Granddottir Two is expected in mid-December and No. 1 turns 3 years old on 1/15, so we'll have plenty to celebrate. One thing I am not celebrating is the big-ass storm I'll be driving into tomoro ...

I have decided not to post today. I was going to say I was up, feeling good, having coffee and getting ready for poached eggs and ham for breakfast, but I have decided to not even mention it. I am also keep the 65 degree temps and the rain forecast to myself. Same for our trip to the Chesterton Art Fair yesterday. I mean, who cares? Right?

People are too busy asking which train is stronger, talking about log cabins full of BBQ, and stuff like that. So, that made me decide to just not even touch the keyboard today. I sulk, therefore I am, as somebody once said. Not sure who. It might have been Millring when he did not get an answer to his train question.

It's like how I decided against suggesting we meet in Merrillville for a hot dog at Portillo's and instead I have decided to fly to Venezuela. As for that Dumb Ol' Potter, he took the last train to Hicksville.

Good Morning Good People
Lovely summer morning, predicted high in the upper 70s. Off to church, thence mostly office work for one reasonable client and two unreasonable clients.
Employee reviews tomorrow. I get reviewed by my 32-year-old immediate supervisor and the 28-year old vice president has asked me for input on my supervisor's review. I told them succinctly that, after 36 years, I'm cynical about reviews and reviews twice a year are overkill. I didn't tell them that I think they are each so happy with their recent elevation to their positions that they have bought into all of this feel-good managerial bullshit.
Birthday weekend -- our son turns 29 today and is celebrating at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Our dog turned 1 yesterday with a puppy brain in an adult dog body.
Have a fine summer Sunday one and all.

Well, here I am in sunny Hicksville, eating Portillo's wonderful hotdogs (relish, onions, mustard, nothingelse), playing my guitar and being simply awesome.

Morning
76F/24C Partly sunny chance of rain this afternoon.
Taking myself out to breakfast, I'll take Me Darling Wife too if she'll get herself out of that bed. The rest of the day will be chores and shop time.

There is a Portillo's close enough to me to hit with a rock as long as it is thrown by a relatively powerful catapult. I would be happy to allow you to buy a few for me next time you come over.

I am now planning to just do the Indy to Bloomington route, then north as described in my Flatlanders thread.
