Pouring rain. Sitting on the deck under the awning drinking coffee. Things could be worse. I dodged rain squalls this morning to make my weekly run to Dunkin' for a cold brew iced coffee, which I am enjoying while classical music plays and I await the start of the Presidents Cup. As I did after cutting the grass yestiddy, I shall enjoy a Millstream Oktoberfest later in the day (thanks again, Joe!). Probably along with some leftover BBQ rib tips. Things could be worse.

Stoughton, Wisconsin. Home from church, bought a beautiful hand made quilt. Fund raiser for Lutheran World Relief.

Packing.
I spent yesterday moving some remaining things from Devon's old apartment to her new house while she and Melva went shopping for things like drapes and shower curtains.
A fenced-n yard. Her dog loves it.

tried to stay up and watch the Malaysian GP, I'm getting too old, slept in this morning. I am trying to avoid learning the results as there is a rebroadcast tonight at 8 p.m. Central time. Please no spoilers. I'm headed home to watch the recordings right now. Need to at least see the qualifying and race.

My travels up the Red River have brought me to a hamlet called Grand Forks. It is a milling town that lies at the confluence of the Red River and the Red Lake River. Curiously, neither river is particularly red, both being predominantly greenish with some blue highlights.

Funeral yesterday in the town where I grew up. Got to say hello to many old friends and goodbye to the mother of a good friend. One of those mothers who helped raise me and set a wonderful example for me and many others, in how to be honest, humble and kind.
No signs of kidney failure in my grape eating dog.
Youngest son to come buy and plan and shop for next weekend's camping/bird hunting trip.

Well, the Vikes blundered their way into a loss against Detroit, whose record in the NFC North now matches that of the Packers. I see that the Patriots lost, too, and it looks like Dallas might, Dallas did, as well.
Might be time for me to break out the Millstream and rib tips.
On a positive note, the USA just killed the Presidents Cup, holy cow.

The president wears a cup? A very small one, a demi-tasse.

But it's the best very small one.

Well, things got worse.
My sister in law's boyfriend died unexpectedly this morning.
Ugh. This is Angie's youngest sister, and she's more or less been estranged from the family for the last ten years, starting when the recently departed first came on the scene.
So we're in this awkward place where no one is really sorry to see him out of the picture, but is sorry for her loss.
So it goes. Time to crack open a Busch.

I'd tell you, but I don't think you believe my perfectly good answers anymore. A shame, really.

But, I will try once more. I am too helpful a person not at least try.
The Presidents Club is a club for former presidents. Only former United States presidents can join (former Mexican or Chinese presidents, for example, can't. They have their own clubs).
The Presidents Club was first organized by Harold Stassen in 1948 when he was sure he would get to be a member someday. (sadly, Harold never was able to join the club he started despite running for president nine times and seeking the nomination eleven times.)
Former presidents get free beer, chips, and cable in their club. They also have a ping pong table, foosball, and some video games. The nation picks up the expenses incurred in maintaining the Presidents' Club out of gratitude for their service. As a nation, we quickly learned that if you treat former presidents well, instead of, for example, shooting them as some other countries do, they are much more willing to leave office voluntarily.

So it’s a physical place? Do all four members have a key? Can they blackball other former presidents?

Yes, Yes, and No. Though they can "prank" each other. Recently, Bill Clinton replaced Jimmy Carter's collection of Playboy magazines with a box of old Readers Digests. Jimmy had a good laugh, until he realized Bill wasn't going to give them back.
