I saw two people skating on the ice in front of the house. Way braver than me since the water was open ten days ago. That being said, I'm buying a new pair of skates this week. I have a hockey stick. Woo hoo!

Wrapping up a pretty good day. Sunny and it hit about 71F for the high, but a cold wind. Had a nice breakfast at home of whole grain waffles with Greek yogurt and blueberries. Watched some Olympic events that we had recorded. Played a bit of guitar. Went to an afternoon concert by a very good 8 piece swing band. Two vocalists each sang on some of the songs and they were both good. Came home and did our 2 1/2 mile walk. Time to shower and make a beef stir fry with various leftover vegies.

I've got skates, and grew up skating on the river. The river here would be entirely too dangerous to skate on no matter how cold it's been, and I haven't trusted any oxbow lakes for several years.

I've got skates, and grew up skating on the river. The river here would be entirely too dangerous to skate on no matter how cold it's been, and I haven't trusted any oxbow lakes for several years. I've been waiting patiently for the lake to freeze over in front of the house. Looks like the time has come. I haven't owned a good pair of skates in years, for some reason. I better remedy that. Fortunately, hockey being huge here, there is a store that specializes in used hockey gear. I'll be visiting soon. Woo hoo! |

Ever since my little, ahem, accident a couple of years back and I sold all my skateboard stuff...but the pull is there. If I can get just a bit fitter, (been riding the bike almost everyday and swimming,) I'm going to pull the trigger. Pumping is soo much fun, feels allmost exactly like surfing. This board is the evolution of their pintail, which I had and loved. Mike |
