Just back from a glorious day in the St. Croix Valley. The sun DID come out, and the foliage was terrific. We stayed on back roads on both sides of the river, had lunch in Osceola, coffee in St. Croix Falls, gourmet chocolates in Marine-on-St.-Croix and finished off with a tasting at a winery/orchard outside Stillwater. A great little 100-mile loop! (Not my photo below, but from that area.)

Well, today's been mighty fine so far. Finished the lecture, headed back to the French Quarter, ran smack into a full blast NOLA street parade with 8 piece funeral band escorting the bride and groom into Jackson Square. Went across the street from our hotel to Pete Antoine for the red beans and spicy sausage with a great bread pudding dessert. Stepped out of the restaurant and there was Tuba Skinny cranking in the alley. They gotta be the best traditional jazz band in the country. Wow! Now we're off to see the Dirty Bourbon River Band at a local bar. Too much good stuff. All on top of meeting Evan.Life is good.

I hope that everyone has a good night. I am here to complete your hope. Check out youtube Dirty Bourbon River Band. Part Randy Newman, part Dr. John, part untamed Klemzer. What a hoot. Now in bed savoring, and with so much to savour. NOLA has been berry, berry good to me.
