If I read this right, there are only 3,000 subsidies available and there are 26,000 people on the waiting list. To fix the problem of giving illegal preferences, the county will now have a lottery. People who have been on the waiting list for years are not happy with the lottery. Possibly the county was giving preferences to people outside Santa Rosa because Santa Rosa has its own housing authority. srcity.org/599/Housing-Choice-Voucher-Section-8But this article treats the illegal preferences as a separate issue from the overburdened waiting list: www.pressdemocrat.com/news/9556516-181/sonoma-county-to-reform-low-income?sba=AASI tried to find the audit report. No luck. Maybe it isn't finalized yet. So, Bob, are you currently on the waiting list? How long have you been on it? Is the change to a lottery system a good thing for you?

Yes I’ve been on the Waiting Lists for 3 years. I was so close for solo housing. For $420 monthly - a permanent housing. I don’t know yet about the lottery policy.
