I am on the waiting list for Bennett House. It started 9/13/16 (#93) thru 9/13/19 (#25). I submitted an application. The waiting lists started going down. Mercy Housing decided to remodel the entire apartment - Bennett House. “Waitlist Closed” on the website but there’s no update. Due to the lack of affordable housing, I moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to wait until I come up on the list. My Puerto Vallarta housing isn’t a vacation or a resort, it is affordable. I am counting on moving to Bennett house. I want to know any the updates or progress. Please use the Puerto Vallarta & San Anselmo addresses both.
 
I am US citizen and I’d like to come back and live in the Bennett House. What is my current status?

I have thought about you and your situation several times. I know housing in California is a problem for even mid to upper level middle class folk. Have you ever considered housing in the Deep South? I don't know your financials and don't want to pry but since you asked I'm wondering why you had to leave Estados Unidos. There are much cheaper areas of the country. Is it that you don't have a vehicle and need to be in an area that you can walk or take public transportation?

If you had wheels there are small houses all over the rural areas. When someone gets old and has to go to a home or they pass away, their house sits empty as the children or heirs don't want to live in BF Mississippi. If you don't have wheels surely there is housing in a small town in Mississippi or Alabama that would be more affordable than California.

I don't know the answer but I hate it that you are having such upheaval.

This is terrible. I have no idea how anyone can afford to live in California. I know I couldn’t. To live economically in the US, I think you have to leave California.

As an aside, here is a room near your current residence that is available for $300 a month.
