Interesting gig at my Sacramento hostel. The music is wonderful - The words are too much. Rap or HipHop.
Sacramento Bee - not the entire article
Sofar Sounds was created by self-proclaimed music lover Rafe Offer in London in 2009, after he became frustrated with large-scale concert settings, often plagued with people talking and texting over the music. Offer and a group of friends started inviting local musicians to play in their living rooms to small crowds of dedicated music fans, and the idea spread to other cities.
Now, the organization operates in 441 cities across the globe, and has built a large network of musicians, some who have risen to smashing success. Both emerging and established artists have been invited to perform at Sofar shows, including Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Leon Bridges and Hozier, according to the organization.
Several notable artists have played in Sacramento through the Sofar artist network. Rhodes said most recently, Alessia Cara played a show on a rooftop downtown before she performed with Shawn Mendes at Golden 1 Center in July.

"not a great deal for musicians" another good article John The musicians enjoyed the gig. About half the revelers loved it. And a better half of them were just playing their phone. Nobody got any money. I actually enjoyed - about a quarter. I left. I watched a movie.

That's what I've heard from a few people that have participated. I went to a Sofar event in Chicago about 3 weeks ago. It was pretty cool. I was by far the oldest person in attendance. Mostly 20 somethings. The performers were 20 & 30 somethings. Every guy had to sing part of a song in falsetto. The crowd (25 people) cheered when they hit a high note, just like on "The Voice." But it was a nice event over all. I liked the performers. The Sofar people there were very nice. I'll go to another. I may try to play at one. But I'm probably too old to make their cut.

Marshall “ But I'm probably too old to make their cut.”
You’re a good guitarist. Maybe you should try Sofar event - with a long hairpiece or a wig- maybe you’re 30 or 40.
