Trump Rejects New York’s Plea For Ventilators: ‘I Don’t Believe You Need’ That Many Nick Visser and Marina Fang HuffPostMarch 26, 2020, 9:06 PM CST Trump Rejects New York’s Plea For Ventilators: ‘I Don’t Believe You Need’ That Many Trump Rejects New York’s Plea For Ventilators: ‘I Don’t Believe You Need’ That Many
President Donald Trump rejected calls from New York’s governor that the state needed tens of thousands of new ventilators to treat a mass of patients infected with the novel coronavirus, saying he didn’t believe those numbers were accurate.
“I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday night. “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go into major hospitals sometimes, they’ll have two ventilators. And now all of a sudden they’re saying can we order 30,000 ventilators?”

What are you suggesting, Bruce? If it's what I think, this does not make me happy.
New York has never had this unprecedented number of cases of such a serious virus that requires so many patients to be on a ventilator since the ventilator was invented.
From CNN, 15 minutes ago: "More than 52,000 of the country's cases are in New York state alone... New York officials forecast the apex of the pandemic in the state is still 14 to 21 days away. At that point, the state expects it will need 140,000 hospital beds, Cuomo said."

Well, apparently 10,000 ventilators were delivered to New York but they didn't know it. The ventilators were delivered to a warehouse in New Jersey that is rented by New York and was the address given to ship the ventilators to so Since Trump knew they ventilators had been delivered, he wasn't happy to have Cuomo say he didn't have them. Cuomo later said they hadn't been distributed because they hadn't decided where to put them so they were stored. Basically, New York fucked up and tried to blame Trump.

When asked about Trump's dismissal of his projected ventilator needs later Friday, Cuomo told CNN's Erin Burnett, "I hope the President's right. I'll go better than what the President said—I hope I don't need any ventilators."
"But I can't govern that way—I govern on the data and on the numbers and on the science," he said, adding that if "you count the numbers and the trajectory, we're looking at 40,000 possible ventilators, 140,000 possible hospital beds—those are the numbers."
Cuomo highlighted his and Trump's working relationship, stressing that "this is no time for politics—this is a time for exquisite coordination between the federal government and the state governments, because we need each other."
He also praised Trump for invoking the Defense Production Act, because it "gives him the muscle of the law to get companies to actually respond to the production of ventilators, which is exactly what we want," Cuomo said, later adding that Trump "needs (accelerated production) and he's right—these ventilators are going to be the matter of life and death."
But the New York governor also got in one jab, when asked about Trump's assertion during Friday's coronavirus briefing that the federal government sent ventilators for New York to a New Jersey warehouse "at the time they were complaining about it."
"First I've heard that the warehouse was in New Jersey, funny way of delivering it to New York," he said. "But I knew very well that the federal government has delivered 4,000 ventilators."
Nowhere can I find anything that verifies this warehouse was being "rented by New York," or that the Governor hadn't decided where to distribute them.
