Oh yeah, that is coming up again. I can host through my GU zoom again, if folks wish. We need to figure out how to get coachdoc connected, too.

Seems longer for some reason. I'm not much of a story teller. I dunno... life got a little busy? I took a bit of a hiatus from social media in general. Things got a bit testy a few years ago and I didn't need the aggravation. But I'm baaacckkk. Well, at least I hope to check in more regularly than occasionally! :-)

I think the last live streaming event went well and was enjoyed by all. Fiddlerina and I couldn’t make it but may make the next one. As I recall, Michael sets it up on Zoom.

Glad you’re back. Yeah, I just did a zoom room on big academia’s dime. Glad to give it another shot. Start signing up to do a tune here.

Guys tell people what they need to join in. A computer with any kind of camera hooked to it and any kind of mic. Most laptops, ipads, modern smart phones, etc all have everything you need. We don't expect good sound or good video, just enough to be seen and heard.
You will need speakers or headphones as well. If you don't have the camera and mic, I believe you can still be a listener only. There is also a keyboard chat function to add to the mix if all you are doing is listening in.
With headphones on, you can turn off most of the echo cancellation, feedback prevention, that the software uses to get a better overall sound. (That will be in the advanced users class)

And also it will be a Zoom meeting, so you will need to download Zoom. I know Bob mentioned it in the first post, but I thought I'd re-mention it.

I'm in, though I wish I could find an adapter for external speakers and mike. (YouTube is full of demos about how to make one, but I don't feel like finding the right kind of plug and digging out the soldering iron.)

Not that it should affect any SoundHole schedule, but Fiddlerina and I will never be available on any Sunday between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM Pacific time. We have a long standing get together with local musician friends (conversation & pizza, not music) every Sunday from 5:00 PM Central until we’re done. Those have become virtual get togethers but they still happen.

Hmm. My computer has a headphone jack and USB ports (thanks to my dock). I don't know how I would hook up an external mic, as everything I have is either 1/4" or 1/8". Although I may have some sort of interface in a box somewhere, something that I purchased years ago (like my 6-track and 8-track recorders).

Our camera-equipped machine is a ThinkPad T520, which has the single mike/headphone jack--a four-conductor 3.5mm connection. There are Y-adaptors that split out the mike/phone connections, but nobody local carries them. I suppose a USB adaptor might serve, but that's overkill for a machine with perfectly adequate on-board sound processing--and in any case also out of stock locally.
I'll just use the built-in mike with my outboard speakers--I'm too old and presbyopic to fool around with making my own cables any more.

I found a Tascam US-144MKII in an unopened box, purchased sometime in the early part of the last decade. It's an audio/MIDI interface. It comes complete with a "DVD-ROM" with Cubase LE 5, and the manual references Microsoft XP and Vista. I wonder where a microphone might be.

After testing out my very expensive universal audio setup, it's crap! The WDM driver crackles (apparently a known issue). Plugged in my Allen and Heath mixer through USB and all is working fine.
So that, with my old Microsoft Lifecam, will get the job done.
If anybody on the board wants a great deal on an older UAudio Apollo8 quad dsp with both firewire and thunderbolt along with several plugins transferred on purchase, let's talk.
