In response to the op-ed, Fauci told the Atlantic that the country needs to “stop this nonsense” and focus on the surging virus rather than political games. “I cannot figure out in my wildest dreams why they would want to do that,” Fauci said. “I think they realize now that that was not a prudent thing to do, because it’s only reflecting negatively on them.”

I'm sorry Dr Fauci can't understand that folks are finding plenty of reasons for skepticism.
In Louisiana we are testing roughly 10x the number of people than we were in March and April, when positives hovered around 40%. Now they remain at around 9%.
A little math: 40% of 1000 is 400. 9% of 10k is 900. So yeah, more positives.
Florida alone is testing more than did Italy at its peak. We're scouring the country for the 'Rona.
Why? Color me skeptical.

Florida alone is scoring more positives and hospitalizations than most countries. (countries, not counties) And the governor of georgia actually suing the mayor of the largest city there over masks?!?
Excuse my lack of" patriotism", but the US at this point looks like a dumpster fire.

No argument about the dumpster fire. But is it okay for me to be skeptical about the information I am being fed?

No argument about the dumpster fire. But is it okay for me to be skeptical about the information I am being fed? There's an opening in my city for a "cart puller," whatever that is. "Must pass background check and be able to say 'Bring out your dead' in 5 languages." I shouldn't joke. Or should I? No one I know who has caught this virus -- and it's maybe ten people, has done other than recover at home. Maybe I'm like Marie Antoinette enjoying her gateau as the masses starve, but the drop in the death rate, plus the vaccine developments, I find encouraging. I worried about AIDS, and then SARS, and then EBOLA (okay that's a real bad one), each of them sure to end civilization as we know it. I just can't get excited about this one. On the other hand... 77,300 new cases reported yesterday? *COUGH* I reckon that IS a few.

Well that's what happens when you start forcing everyone (either directly or indirectly by scaring the shit out of them) to get tested. Of course new cases are going to go up. On the other hand, I still know of only one person with the disease, and that's only because HR put out a note that told me so.
