The first time I saw My Man Godfrey was probably an afternoon TV show in the 1950s where they ran old films they could get for cheap. I remember laughing until cried. I thought it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen.

The one that always draws me back is The Professional. So well done and so captivating even though it’s hard to watch.

I miss movies. I looked into Netflix but found very little I'd want to watch. Maybe I'll have to cast a wider net.

I miss movies. I looked into Netflix but found very little I'd want to watch. Maybe I'll have to cast a wider net. I have that problem with Netflix too. I started years ago with DVDs in the mail. I think I could still do that but we’re not currently set up for DVDs. Now I look at the offerings and find that the only things we watch are from Britbox and Acorn. I search for any movie we might like but come up empty. I may have to think about dumping Netflix. On edit: The Criterion Channel has movies we like, including many with artistic cinemagraphic merit.

If you want a laugh, watch "Cabin Boy" from 1994. It lost millions because it's awful, but it's also hilarious.

I am going to add "Love in the Afternoon" starring Audrey Hepburn to the list. I have loved that movie forever. It is because of that movie, that the first gift Lar ever gave me was an ankle bracelet. I had longed for one FOREVER, but felt it wasn't something I wanted to buy for myself. When Lar wanted to buy me my first gift, (it was my birthday) and asked me what I would like, I told him, 'An ankle bracelet" just like Audrey Hepburn wore in "Love in the Afternoon."

For therapy and healing, avoid one called get out, which I caught last night--a psychological thriller/horror. Excellent, but scary.

One on my list that I found particularly charming and have returned to a couple of times is My Life So Far. It's a kind of fictional autobiographical film told from the perspective of a 12-year-old boy whose family lives in a Scottish mansion, and whose eccentric inventor father is trying to develop a type of peat that can be used for bandaging wounds during WWI. His parents' (Colin Firth and Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio) relationship is put to the test for financial and other factors, and Malcolm MacDowell, as an equally eccentric uncle, drops by in his biplane with his girlfriend, adding to the family tempest. For the most part, the story is told with great humor and lightheartedness.
