Enjoy your day - 13th - it’s just a day. There’s no black cat on this piano or a leaning ladder or a broken mirror
Chopin Prelude E minor - I try to play this Claude Arrau’s version. There must be at least dozens versions - most professional pianists change a little bit. Mine is a little different as well. The prelude is called Suffocation - dying away. I usually play airy another piece. Chopin said I want that piece played at my funeral. At least 30 films featuring about the piece. And lots of jazz arrangements of the composition.

And I read that insensatez (jobim) is based on it.

Good morning. Should be 50-75F here unless Terry advises otherwise. I'll buy groceries and later do a video of my wife playing a handbell solo. If it comes out all right it'll be included in a virtual church service. That's about it for ambitions. Enjoy your day.

Up. Coffee. Decided not to have the kids (Katie and her fiancé, Mack) over for thanksgiving because of the insane spiking Covid numbers. Also, damnit, we decided to cancel our Kauai trip at Xmas. I hear Chicago has issued shelter in place orders. So much for not hearing about Covid after the election. Hope Janice is doing ok.

I hear you, Mike. Our Thanksgiving will consist of inviting two relatives to have a slice of pie in the backyard.

I'm still hoping to go see my daughter and her family for some kind of Thanksgiving get together. I'm thinking it may be next weekend, outdoors, masked and short. Looks like the weather might be tolerable for such an event.

Good morning. Pretty good weekend is slowly evolving. Looks like we'll be meeting daughter and fiancé in town early tomorrow for all day-ish shopping and eating out (for me and Ryan that amounts to carrying and paying).
Made a momentous discovery last night on the Pieces of Malarkey front. The thing that's been bugging me is the inability to use the Lead channel on the Mesa (literally legendary saturation created by famous cascading gain stages) due to the looper (non-distorted guitar) having to go through the amp too. So last night I plugged the effects loop send into the front of the amp and it worked great to just drive the leads that I'm playing and running the normal amp out of the pedal into another amp/PA/etc. I'll flesh it out over the weekend but it looks like the rig just doubled but it sounds awesome.
Oh, and I've got to give the grass and fallen leaves one more swipe, probably on Sunday.
Woo hoo!

It sounds like you’re okay. I hope your daughter is as well. My son and future DIL live in Chicago so I guess I won’t be seeing them anytime soon. Just as well, I want them to be safe. A few months ago, I accepted a work assignment for Thanksgiving Day and the next few days after. Glad I did. Doesn’t sound like Thanksgiving will be much fun this year.

Plodding through the budget and financial statements for our HOA. The finance committee chair hung a copy of the budget on our gate this morning and sent me an email that it was there. No contact. We'll meet this afternoon on Zoom. My 4th Zoom meeting this week. Actually looking forward to some down time over the weekend. Not often that I say that these days.
The calendar does say Friday the 13th. I think we all got a head start on bad luck back in March and won't notice any difference today.

I am up and ready to be a major force of influence. Hmm. I read that as "flatulence."

Just spoke with my friend about our annual 4 day bird hunting trip to eastern Oregon. 3 of 4 of us usually make the trip together. I decided to pass this year. Driving 12 hours with masks on and eating separately just takes the fun out of things. The trip is as much about comradery as it is dogs and birds. My bird hunting, if any this year, will be solo or with my sons.

So to continue with Google: Which is correct comradery or camaraderie? Comradery is a spirit of friendship and community between two people or a group of people. Camaraderie is the more popular spelling, but comradery is an acceptable alternate.

My day is tremendous paperwork and ZOOMING meditation breakouts - not zooming with a car or running around.
I watched a cool real movie - Mia & The White Lion. Africa cinematography
Maybe some more piano - Chopin

Interesting, didn't know it was an alternate.

Interesting, didn't know it was an alternate. Another alternate comrades... Ask a Welsh person what a ‘cwtch’ is and often they’ll give you a fond smile – because a cwtch is evocative – it has the magical quality of transporting someone back to the safety of their childhood. This corresponds with the word’s other meaning, which is a place to safely store things – if you give someone a cwtch, you're figuratively giving them a ‘safe place’.
