Morning, all. Gorgeous day here. Finishing breakfast, then shower, then walk at Clark's overlook with a wonderful view of Sunapee, lake and mountain.

Had a beautiful day yesterday. 40’s. Got the lights up and squeezed in a good paddle. Little thin ice in shallow areas but otherwise perfect. Might be the last of the season.
Cloudy, windy and cold today. I have some Christmas present projects in the shop I need to get going on.

Good morning.
Miserable night, I'll need a nap later.

We went to the hardware store yesterday to get what we need to hang outdoor lights for Christmas. Last Christmas we made due with duct tape, having just moved in and wanting to get a few lights up. We'll spend part of today getting things installed, but not hanging the lights yet. Two new strings of lights recently purchased from Costco should do it.
A neighbor passed away at 2 AM today. He had been in the hospital for a few days with heart and kidney problems and was supposed to have heart surgery in two days. Not COVID-related, but COVID will certainly have an impact on what we can do for his wife and on the traditional mourning. No sitting shiva. Sigh.

Good morning. I was at our botanical garden at 7:00 and spent a couple of very pleasant hours walking around.
Hobson, the pandemic is indeed hard on those who lose friends and loved ones. It looks as if my father in law may not have any kind of memorial service. There's been a lot of that. I don't enjoy such services but I'm seeing why they matter to the survivors.
Have a good day.

view of my cabin from across the lake. In the summer, when the leaves are on the trees only a small portion of the roof would be visible. Back home today and I just finished putting up a Christmas tree, after going 7 years without a Christmas tree. I'm sure I'll be spending Christmas home, alone so I thought a tree would be nice.

Paleo, remember when I said that today would be beautiful too, so stay at your cabin an extra day? Apparently I was mistaken. That's a great shot of your cabin.
Drlj, I'd love to see the migration of which you speak. We have all kinds of bird migrations here; we see white pelicans, trumpeter swans, we even have a snowy owl inhabiting our timber. They do migrate this far south every few years or so. But we're not on the path of snow geese or sandhill cranes. I really wish we were.
Good news for me is that I've been motivated to play guitar lately, and my callouses have returned. Covid has nothing to do with it, I hardly play in public anyway, it's just that I'm into it these days. Sometime the day will come when I can pester the Cedar River Whalers by invading their practice, or stop by FC's house. I dare do neither right now. Being in public schools I feel like a walking time bomb and don't want to perpetuate any pandemic spreads. But I am enjoying myself. Curiously, most of the new stuff I'm learning turns out to be in G. I can't argue with that.

Todd, when we are finally safe from this virus I plan to have a (or multiple) musical get togethers at the cabin and at home and of course you'll be invited. Ran into Steve a couple weeks ago at Theisens, had to go out to his car and see his new Martin D28E.

We will hear them calling and look up to see a huge flock circling as they decide who is supposed to lead today. Some will peel off and drop down by streams and ponds while the rest turn south and head to the migratory spot at Jasper-Pulaski. They are fun to watch. Private pilots in the area have to keep an eye out for big bird traffic.

I just remembered - the Sunday daily thread. Some of it is private
My thoughts wasn’t not privately I talked with a gringo - he was talking about my building and the neighborhood. The rent is higher now. it was $600 then $1000. You don’t a rental hike from 80%.
There’s a lot of people that are leaving. Most of the tenants - kids- live in the building. I think most of them are druggies or dealers. I was sitting outside and one person was absolutely wrecked. He couldn’t even talk words - gibberish. I saw about six people like that. This is why am coming back to marin county. I even have a wise strategy.

You need to branch out and play in A. Capo on the 2nd fret and use G forms. I've done that, but not a lot. Hammond and I had a discussion several years ago, which I always keep in mind. He said that he is a guitar player who sings, and that I am a singer that plays guitar. That's stuck with me in a good way. When it comes down to things my voice is my strong suit, so when it comes to keys, I think of my voice. But I do realize that mixing up keys is important in terms of not everything sounding the same. When I play for the cows outside in the summer or to myself in the winter, I do try to mix things up, and have followed the rule of no more than two songs in a row in the same key. Aside from G, I'm also comfortable with D and A, so I do make an effort to incorporate those.
