The snow has begun. The tempo here is 39 degrees, but in Grand Forks, it's 1-below zero, and that air mass is heading this way with high winds. The Wolf is coming to your door. Just had concrete poured for the foundation of the long awaited Pergola Project. City guy came out and approved the hole in the ground. Contractor filled it with Sacrete mix. Put a blanket over it because it's dipping down to the teens over night. 50 deg right now. Contractor will start framing next week. Chilly. But that's his problem. We were supposed to pour the first concrete slab in Antarctica. I surveyed the proposed area, which needed leveling which isn't easy in permafrost. We had an Airforce equipment operator with us and it took him a few days to scrape up enough fill and scrape down the high spots but he did a fantastic job of it. We erected a sort of Quonset hut over the area that some heat could be blown into. The day the pour was supposed to happen we found out that no one ever ordered the concrete. I wonder if they ever did it. Up to that point all the buildings were on wooden footers which were a real pain to get level too but permanently frozen they weren't going to rot.
