Well, almost everybody is doing some home improvement or remodeling project. Lots of Kitchen cabinet painting. Sometimes redoing kitchens. Refinishing floors. New counter tops. Or just painting. I suppose it has to do with being stuck at home all day. You get tired of looking at the same four walls. But it must be a boom for the home remodeling contractors.

Not if it's all DIY.

There's a lot of that here. Our next-door neighbor has remodeled two rooms during the pandemic. But such projects are for people who are handy, not for me.

I'm just trying to erect enough barriers to keep the geese outta my yard. Put up a side fence and though I was safe.
Nope

We had to get some work done last summer because of a leaking dishwasher. Every single guy that came through, general contractors, flooring, plumbing, cabinets, said they were crazy busy. Everyone’s at home, everyone decided that since they were, they might as well get stuff done. Hopefully they have enough to keep going after they’ve spent 10s of 1000s on renos.

Maybe they're getting ready to sell and move to some other place to get it together.
Each has his own ticket in his hand. Florida?

I added solar panels. Either that or a vintage Martin.

None of the footprints are human; mostly turkeys and deer plus assorted other creatures. Turkeys are messy in large groups too but maybe not as bad as geese. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/wqr7sVW4/3235-AE04-6338-4-C17-B1-BE-D01977-F215-C7.jpg)

A few factors off the top of my head. Because people are staying home, they're more aware of things that they would like to change there. They can be there when contractors are in the house. They can use money that they would normally be spending on entertainment and travel. They want a better kitchen because they're cooking more. They find that working at home while the kids are schooling at home requires some designated space for each person. They want an outdoor space that's more comfortable and also conducive to socially distanced gatherings.

I'm just trying to erect enough barriers to keep the geese outta my yard. Put up a side fence and though I was safe. Nope We had two neighbors along the river with different ideas about the geese. One guy loved them and the woman next door hated them. He would feed them and she would bang on a washtub to drive them away. So he started banging on his feed bucket whenever he fed them. Next time she pounded on the washtub, the geese ran toward her instead of away. They both moved away a long time ago. Fine by me.

Nope We have a few thousand geese hanging around the harbor and picking around on the farm fields. I could hear them last night about sundown and I think they're military, maybe Marines in that it sounded like a DI trying to make a battalion do something. There was one really loud goose who would honk out maybe "ATTENTION!!!" Then there would be a thousand replies from the troops something like "Yes Sargent". Then all quiet until that first guy honked another order and then the rest replied. It was kind of funny listening for awhile although it gets old fast. Then there was a last order, probably "Shut the F^* UP!!!" and it was quiet. Whoever that one goose was he was definitely in control.

There are a lot of carpenters, and painters, and cabinet painters, and countertop and tile contractors, that are busy, busy, busy. I think it's everybody spending so much time at home, and looking around, and saying they're tired of the same 4 walls.

These are the geese of a neighbor across the lake and they eat their eggs. Their wings are clipped. He used to keep them in but they always got out and he just gave up

It will take a little more time and effort, but I think the appropriate response is to gather up all the goose shit and put it on his back deck.

We remodeled our shower and had some painting done. Building tradesmen are very busy around here with remodeling & new construction for all the Illinoisans slithering across the state line into IN to escape taxes and mayhem. We may build a wall to keep them out or just chain some mean dogs all along the state line.

We've been working our our kitchen for a few months now. Currently, the kitchen is in total disarray. We have all the unfinished cabinet in the kitchen, their doors are in the shop, primed and ready to paint. Last day off I make my masonry bit into something of a router and made a channel in the brick and plaster wall to run wiring to the new cabinets. We explored demolishing the kitchen fireplace and the consensus among experts was that the brick wall behind it is too soft to take all the banging required to remove the fireplace. That being the case, I'm going to make a new surround, face, and mantel for it. I got crown moulding from the same craftsman that made the mouldings for my livingroom and dining room back 25 years ago. It's been a long slog.

I'm just trying to erect enough barriers to keep the geese outta my yard. Put up a side fence and though I was safe. Nope Barriers will do nothing, neither will fences. Quit mowing the lawn where the geese are and let the grass grow. They hate tall grass. Let it grow and they'll leave. Seriously. A lot easier than getting a border collie, which would really solve the problem.

Invite the neighbor over for roast yard goose. Tell him to bring dessert.
