Up and awake. Not much news to report around here. The lovely Claire, who recently announced that she intends to stay in the UK after grad school, is in Rome having the time of her life. That makes me smile. I head over to the UK in December to watch her graduate. On the guitar front, my teacher and I have known for a while that my picking technique, self learned, is baaaaad. So, we decided to use a few acoustic solos to work on that, with the first being the solo in Led Zeppelin's Thank You. It's not overly complicated, but is a good vehicle to work on proper picking. These are the things that occupy my time.

Upper 60s today, another good bike ride, prolly the same thing tomorrow. Dinner was soundhole ribs, salads, and rice. The dishwasher has been acting up--it takes well over an hour to do the speedy cycle, which should be ~35min.

Proper picking is important in life and it applies to guitars, friends, and spouses. It does not apply to noses. I, for some reason, can’t get Take the A Train out of my head. I figured out the chord sequence last night so it will occupy some time over the next few days. C Major is good for something. I’ll start with C6. It’s cold and dark and I should still be asleep, but I am not.

Up early (for no damn good reason). Cereal consumed, forming a good bed for morning pill regiment. Washing it all down with green tea.
Hello world!

Up at 4:30 this morning. The wife unit was stressing about finalizing details for the Hawaii trip, so I’m thinking a nap will be on tap fir later. The dog was happy to get fed early and is now snoring. Wish I was snoring too.

Good morning. It seems a lot of us woke up early today. The sun won't rise until 6:50.
Enjoy your day.

My company's management expects us all to return to the office full time starting next Monday. They have indicated one concession, that those of us who are eligible (confirmed by our managers) may work from home on Fridays until they reassess in March 2022. I know I am eligible. There is no reason I have ever needed to be in the physical office—I am just as productive, and happier, working from home. Have I ever noted here that management at my company is deeply rooted in the early, dark days of the Industrial Age? The area around our office is currently littered with human excrement and junkies shooting up in doorways. It's a hard way to begin the work day.
The good news is that I have a senior citizen half-fare Metro Card.

Morning from Montana. I probably shouldn't jinx it but it looks like our home Trex deck project that was supposed to get done "in 4-5 weeks" will wrap up on this week 11. That sucking sound will cease and most guitar shops west of the Rockies shall rejoice

A dark and dreary morning, but it's not cold, or raining or snowing, so I'll take it. My brother works in Cedar Rapids and I'll be having lunch with him today, haven't done that in a while.
Following lunch, I'll try to find new blades for my 50 year old mower, that should be fun. I found out that my "cabin" garden tractor is a Western International.

Good morning Cold out there this morning but it will warm up a bit later. Shop time and errands today. The furnace has been running enough to warrant turning the shop humidifier on. I know this place, it's just around the corner from Bill's.

Frost on the vegetation and a steaming lake this AM. Maybe the last remnants of those fooking floating allergens will finally die.

Buffalo chips. Coal is too expensive.

First of two days in continuing professional education. Thankfully at home, but hard to stay awake after a sleepless night.

Is your office located at the main store? I don't know if your company has more than one location. When I worked with a number of Orthodox Jews, they worked from home on Fridays during the winter months to make sure they could be home by sundown (the commute from DC to the suburbs was unpredictable).

The offices are one street north of the retail store. Observant employees will love this Friday from home thing, those who qualify. Some of them are bused in from 2 hours away.
